Beyond Good and Evil

Has anyone else heard or played this game? I don't have it, but I played the demo on my brother's puter. It was quite impressive! The graphics are examplory (especially for an Adventure game) and the story is intruiging. The demo reminded me a lot of LBA. It looks really promising!

Heard a lot about it,was looking forward to it a lot, but was disapointed when i finaly played the demo.
The story and mechcanics are great.
The gameplay was a good mix too (50% Zelda rip-off 25% platformer, 25% LBAish )

However, the controll system was clunky and the fighting sucked.
I mean, really, we have evolved above single button pressing now.

I might pick up the Gamecube version when its out, maybe it will be better with a analogue stick.

Just based on the demo, it would appear that BG&E is a rip off of a LOT of games

But it's still impressive.

I wasn't really super disapointed with the fighting system. I mean, when Relentless was released the fighting back then had already evolved to more than one button. Yet the creators still wanted to keep things simple. In this way, it reminds me a lot of LBA. And I really doubt that the game consentrates so much on the battles as it does on the adventure portion. Also, this was just the demo, we don't know if more options will be added as the game progresses.

If you recommend, and its an adventure game, I'll try the demo.

Isn't it a really old game though?

I tried the demo, but it wasnt as good as I expected. The graphics are wonderful but the camera and such was a bit sucky. But I think Im gonna buy the game (as my sig indicates)

Pandemona: No it was released in october.

Demowise PES3 made me much more aroused though.

I don't see why so many people are disapointed in it. That game has a lot of great stuff (not just the graphics).

For example, the slow motion sequence with the music in the background rocked! So much better than Max Payne's bullet time crap

I think many are underastimating it.

I read about this game a few months ago, but didn't pay too much attention. I also didn't realise the game was out.
I guess I should give it a try, DF's summary of gametypes sounds nice .

LBA has a much, much, much more better system.
It has depth to it.
You dont just hit the buttons non stop, in fact you dont do that at all in LBA.
Playing the BG&E demo, thats precisely what i did, particularly on that "boss".

In fact, the BG&E fighting system is much like the "Enter The Matrix", where what happens on the screen is barely effected by what your doing on the keyboard.
Theres a few different forms of simplicity, and this type is bad.

Its too bad it didnt "borrow" Zelda's fighting system, which IMO, has reached the best posible with the wind waker. One button to slice your sword, but the dirrection you press the stick in effects how you slice. Simple, yet diverse and allows for many tactics.

Of course, maybe it gets more complex later.

I'm absolutely gonna buy it when it's released. Looks like a great game to me. Although I'm kinda disappointed the way the heroin looks now. I think she first looked better, less heroic and tough. And, oh my god, you can actually choose to play the game with DUTCH voices. Ofcorz great for the little ones, but for me.. no f-ing way! Dutch voices suck so bad.

This one reminds me a lot of LBA. Just the demo!
These flying creatures outside the lighthouse *cough* Monster of the gas*cough* and even, inside the lighthouse drawings on the wall that look a LOT like a Franco and a Sphero... Coinsedence? Ah well, I think I'm gonna buy this game for my cube, just got Mario Kart so I won't need a game anytime soon

Yes, BG&E does "borrow" a lot from LBA.
Mainly the style/atmosphere.
The camera system is blatently Zelda though ;p

I just played some of the game, up to the place where you get your first mission from the IRIS network. Hey, that room where they gather up reminded me of the dissidents room, which was also hidden behind a closet, with people standing around a table with mission info.

Anyway. The game seems to have pretty original gameplay. It's very lineair though, and very easy so far, the game must be aimed at younger players. The fighting indeed comes down to smashing with a stick, only with some help of a buddy's special attack and some attack with extra power.

I'm still curious to the story, but this game might start to bore real soon.

At least it's less of a disappointment than XIII, which was a ripoff collection of scenes from older FPSes (NOLF, once again) with hardly any gameplay innovations, and the only real original thing is the cell shading graphics and comic book interface, which is indeed very nice. The game was so short I could finish it in one night at a lan party, and it didn't even have a real ending ( "To be continued..." ). Bleh.

Im buying the cube version when its out, if not PC.
(Xbox and Cube versions were delayed because sony bought 2003 exclusive rights...they havnt been given a release date yet)
---
Wacko ~ XIII was always going to be the lesser game, Capcoms Killer7 looks far more interesting.

XBOX is crap, I dont care about it there. As for cube... hmm, I'd prefer it on PC to tell you the truth. Might borrow it or something.

I prefer Cube actually, because PC's never seem to work well. And I like a Controller better than a Keyboard. Only reason I would chose PC for something is online play. But some games are more Console Games than PC games. Like LBA, I think it wouldn't be fitted for a Console, but that's just me
