LBA on Steam

Something they should try is to put LBA1/2 on e.g Steam. When I searched for LBA on Amazon it only returned very few used copies(3) of LBA1. It could perhaps generate some advertising of the LBA world and the game to aid in getting LBA3?

Well it's not a bad idea I guess, a bigger problem is that the LBA games have some trouble running on today's machines. There was another company that was "fixing" old games to make them work on newer machines, if these two things were combined that would be okay... Anyway maybe someone could mail this to Fred since it's not really up to us to decide after all.

I did a fast search before posting but did not find any suspected thread.

Perhaps there's some hidden cost or other complication that make it impossible. Still releasing it cheap on Steam could maybe provide some income to help support development of LBA3.

I doubt EA would agree with this.

It'd be a lot better if it became public domain already, and we could distribute it for free, and put it here, with all the patches.

There's a service called Steamworks from Steam where users can upload games.

If they wont do it public domain, Good Old Games is a better option, imho, as its designed for classic games, and they patch things upto work.

Making it into regular sale via stuff like steam won't help it become public.

Darkflame :P Haha, they're doing it for years(also online, but not on an international scale), you buy a game for 50pln tops, most are for 20 pln (I bought my first lba1 like 10 years ago for 19 pln).

Lately I bought Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, loaded with stuff and all the expantion packs, on a single DVD for 30pln.

Its a lot easier for us too premote a game when theres some way to get it legaly vs no way to get it legaly.
Plus, its a way to preserve the game.

The reason I suggested Steam is because like it says on the SteamWorks website "Used by 15 million gamers" so having it there could expose the game to a lot of people.

Edit: Even if put on Steam it might be possible for the game to be free to download from there. However actually selling the game might have benefits as well. For example to help fund LBA3 but also to make it feel like the games are more valuable. Some people seem to believe that higher price means better game .

That's just international, CD Projekt sells old games very cheap, both on-line and in stores for years now. They're all Windows XP ready and "legal" (like Fallout - all three games on one DVD working fine on XP, for like 30pln).

I've bought my Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale "collections" that way. On their site you can also sell your used games.
Now They're Selling all DeusEx games for 19pln.

How do you abbreviate Złoty to "pln"?

Pln is the iso name. Can be explained as "PL-Polish N=-New", before 95 it was PLZ - Polish Zloty.

Just bought a DeusEx Collection for 25 pln ^^.
