Another LBA sequel game - worth looking though

A while ago I started work on an lba sequel after enjoying it so much. What I have so far is a working 3d engine, a few models, and a lot of the basic programming done (moving from place to place, inventory, menus etc). I am a game developer in my profession so I do have a lot of experience in this area.

So far not too much graphical work has been done (no textures for example) but the engine is working well and stuff like lights, models etc. work.

The first screenshot is what it looks like inside rooms. Each room is consideredd a seperate level but the system seems to work quite well moving between areas.

As you can see, it's very basic, but the support is there, I just need to finish the graphical work.

The outside engine isn't as compelte as the inside engine, so it's still in it's preliminary stages, but it still looks quite good. Imagine the following screenshot with textures, a little more details and characters and you should get a feel for what I am trying to create. Currently only the water is textured, but that will probably not be the final texture.

If you couldn't tell, that's a part from LBA2 where the ferryman's house is, and just round the corner the ferry would be waiting. In the background, you can see Dome of the slate.

Any comments and thoughts would be very welcome!

I have a collection of textures from everywhere in citadel island (all seamless). Would anyone be interested in this?

Thanks for the support, I'll keep you updated on how it's going

That looks like a pretty good system you got there. What did you make it in? Looks pretty impressive so far, especially the water/light effects.

That is in-game. The reflections are just the same thing copied underneath distorted real-time while drawing it to the screen. Gives a pretty good effect though.

Thanks for the positive comments. More recent screenshots to come soon, I just need to do a little more work.

By the way, the game will have a multiplayer engine built in incase anyone wants it, but it's not what you think. Two people can play at the same time (or more) and the only thing that's multiplayer is the fact that they can see each other if they are in the same area, talk to each other, help each other by killing enemies, so the other one doesn't need to etc.

That would be really cool

Maybe, just maybe one or two special areas you can only get to together though?

Use the old Zelda-FS techique of needing one person to stand on a switch for a door to stay open.
The other person can then go though it.

I like this idea, although it will only be secret areas, and things not needed to complete the game, otherwise it would be impossible

The game will have a lot of new things in, lots of new items and stuff especially but you will just have to wait.

I'm going to be setting up a site, starting alpha's and beta's pretty soon, and now things are beginning to get textured too. I will need some help, so I'm hoping when the sites up and I have a working alpha I might be able to get one of the project boards here

Well, co-operation amongst projects helps us all

Once set up you can have any RMP resources.
The models might be too high res, but you can use the textures ect

All the things that I've done (well the public things) are on my website, which is currently closed for now as I am redeveloping the script that powered it. When it's open again, feel free to look at them

And chance of a real time demo?

Sorry to sound skeptical, but those graphics look a bit too good.
Real time reflections are possible, but with a distortion frequency that small the mesh's would have be be ultra high-res...and thats unlikely in realtime.
Using a Direct-X9 CG shader might be possible, the new raytracing ones are powerfull....

In fact the sky, and the see texture just screams Bryce to me now.

oh well, i wait to be proved wrong.

If the engine is so nice and powerful, wouldn't you want to do interiors with the same view. I mean you could actually see the interior through the windows. Ofcourse not for caves and other huge areas, but for a port house like on the screenshot you could. Because if you put just a texture window on the walls that would spoil the whole effect of the nice engine, wouldn't it? (And you can't keep all the windows closed )
