I think Jade is beyond 2 (if it even has a number)
iirc Jade was also used for PoP |

Would be really cool to have a fully physics based magic-ball. I think that's what we must really stress on when the work begins. Even more then keeping the behavior modes I think.
This one is gong to be tough on the dev-team! Becouse the community will have a lot of expactations from LBA3. And good! Developers work best if they need to find original solutions, sort of work-arounds the limitations they are presented with. So I'd say the Jade engine would be perfect. I'd really like to see LBA a "real" world, with cities, Islands that wouldn't be sunk with the first stroke of wind etc. A big hunk of rock!

That wouldn't be little big adventure...

why not?
It felt pretty real when released. BG&E gave me a very LBA-ish feeling too, especialy with all the properganda and such. Slower BG&E, Little less stealth + Magic Ball + More items = LBA Gameplay.

LBA =/= BGE, don't try to mix them up.
In little big adventure there is "little", I think that if twinsun's islands stop being small an quite unrealistic (I mean, like houses being bigger inside than outside, etc), then it will lose a big part of its charm. |

I dissagree.
The LBA world is small, but then, so is BG&E's world. In fact, the islands in BG&E are far more closely packed then in LBA. LBA has almost "Indiana Jones" style travel cuts. As for the Tardis effect...bah, certainky dosnt harm, but dosnt contribute anything either, imo. Its just a convience of game design sometimes. (especialy when using a seperate inside/outside engine). I can easily imagine the LBA islands about the same size as they are now, and spread all over a globe, but explored seamlessly BG&E-style (or Wind Waker style). The world would be small enough too see noticable curvature when on the oceans, but big enough to contain every island in the size they have always been portrayed. Id much prefer speedy BG&E movement too TWW's slow sailboat movement, but the idea of WindWakers freeform island exploreing would suit LBA3 very well. Purhapes, however, there could be shortcuts (non-clone telepads?) so you dont have to sail if you have already visited a place before.

And as you said, that would suit LBA3 well, because the distance between the islands on Twinsun is quite short. |

BG&E was much much smaller than LBA

![]() That said, the "barrier" effect at the edge of BG&E's world was a bad spot, which is why I perposed the whole world should be done in LBA3. The complete-thing, wrapped around. Yes, that means its "small" for a world, but its limiting you in a natural way. Slowly down the transportion, or adding shitloads of nothing is not a good way to do it! However, I'm all for Day & Night cycles* and weather ![]() That would fit perfectly. *well, actualy, complex sunsets and rises and other pretty things due to twinsuns before orbits.

Day & Night cycles are simply not possible. The suns are geostationary.
It should always be sunset/sunrise at the hamalayi mountains and always midday on the desert island. |

Didn't you yet see Darkflame's theory about the suns' circulations?

A few shows from LBA1 intro/backgrounds seem to show it at night, or at least, quite dark.
Its possible its just extremely heavy cloud cover, but I think its more likely there is some sort of varience in the lighting conditions; ![]() My own theory would be a tilted spin of twinsun itself which would produce cycle-like motion of a sun at one end of the sky. (thus short periods of darkness and lots of lovely sunsets) Another possibility is these dark pictures were taking during eclipse's. (but then, if thats a moon, with the sun straight behind it, theres no corona effect)

you've been looking for a site to upload the games too?
I found this one: no warez links - df An online friend is telling me about Twinsen's Oddysee, and it sounds really cool (tho reviews mention the bugs, like in combat ![]() ![]() it would be cool if LBA3 came out, along with some kind of tweaked reissue of the other two. Last edited by Darkflame; 2007-11-07 at 18:34. Reason: sorry, no warez |
