TV Writers strike (Lost, Heroes, Prison Break, 24...heck, everthing on hold)

Figures crossed.

Allthough I got mixed feelings. In many ways I would have prefered a longer strike. (despite of Lost, Heroes, Prison Break and other shows I want to get more asap).

Did their working conditions improve in any way after all these strikes?

On the plus side, they have now got legal minimum requirements for royalities for distribution of internet shows. (previously they got nothing).

On the downside, it seems that despite internet shows costing almost nothing to distribute, the writters are only getting 1% of the advert revenue or less.
Better then nothing, but still seems quite unfair to me.

Same here. A longer strike would be good in the long run, but I need Lost now.

the effects are still huge
shows postponed by alot, 24 is back jan 09..
many planned shows are cancelled

It's bad for those shows, but it is good in the long run. More awareness of how lame TV networks are, and how it would be so much better without being depended on them.

I'm not sure it is bad for those shows.
I think theres going to be very few truely canceled things due to this strike, much more likely just set back to next season. Even those that are canceled are probably going to be uncanceled. (either that, or there was reasons to cancel anyway, and this was just a excuse).

24 also, I feel would be better in 09.
Give the writters time to plan the changes they needed better. (seeing as they have been messed about a lot with this next season anyway)

Yes, lots of shows got confirmed renews too (Earl, Lost, Heroes, Pushing Daisys to name a few)

Woo! Apparently, Lost will take a month break after episode 4x07, and then air another whole 6 episode before the next break. Which is better than I expected.

aha...that makes things easier for me then
I only have to fast for a bit longer to compansate for that small gap.
(just starting to rewatch s3 at the mo).

Well you're still gonna wait a whole month after episode 4x07. Unless you rewatch season 3 reaaal slowly.

Well, I was limiting myself to one a day, if it wasnt for someone else I would have stuck to that *sigh* (upto epp4 now).
