Anyone try the new Radiohead album?

Yes! It's pretty amazing, but I've only listened to it four times. When I get home (which is very soon) I will hopefully be able to use a proper hi-fi, and actually have time to listen to music.

Really? I listened to it a couple of times, I can't say I found it particularly good, but I think you can't really judge an album till you really remember it in your head like, which I don't yet.

So I'll listen to it some more and we'll see

Ok I le tried Violet of The Birthday Massacre and I quite like the style.
Lovers End is a nice song.

Btw, my sockpuppet (dredg) was name after a progressive rock band.
They're really good, I love their album Leimotif.

I downloaded the new Radiohead album when it came out, but I haven't gotten into it at all. Too boring, but it will probably get better if I listen to it a bit more.

This week I've listened a lot to The Tears only album (released 2005). I had just heard a couple of the songs before, and it turned out to be a really great album! The Tears is a band with the two ex-Suede guys Bernard Butler and Brett Anderson (Suede's singer). And in my opinion it is better than Suede's post-1997 efforts.

Btw, I would like to recommend the Swedish band Kent to you guys who like early Radiohead and Muse-style music. They released English versions of two of their 90s albums, get them! (this one and this one. They are one of my favourite bands, and probably my favourite non-British band.

I've listened to and really enjoyed some Kent albums Gustav, but after hearing the new album one time I thought it was horrible. Should I give it another try?

I'm not really the man to answer that question because I am going to buy the album soon, and therefor I haven't downloaded it. So I've just listened to the single, Ingenting, which I thought was a very good song.

But I think you should try again, because the reports that I've gotten from Kent fans I know is that they like the new album very much!

Edit: I've listened to the B-side Min Värld as well. It's good!

That doesn't say much, though. There's nothing less critical than the whole Kent-rabble.
And since Gustav Sweden is incapable of giving a proper answer, I might consult you instead:
But foremost do I've to correct last-mentioned; Kent are more like Sweden's answer to Keane
than anything; average, disguised mainstream music. Not especially exciting nor awful
- like fried sausage and macaroni with more slender ketchup.

The new album is like a second grade Depeche Mode-pastiche, even for Kent's standards. I'd actually
advise you to listen to something else instead. And that's coming from a secularized Kent-fan.

On a more constructive note: if you want to listen to something else within the atmospheric falsetto
pop-vein, that isn't Radiohead or Muse, I'd recommend you some Grandaddy, Mew, The Flaming Lips
or Mercury Rev instead. Despite I'm not a big enthusiast of neither of these bands, they're far more
intriguing than anything Kent has beared down, save for perhaps 747 and a few other tracks.

Yeah, after having listened to Kent for a while I know what you mean. Maybe that's why I don't like the new album; I just got bored with Kent in general I guess.

Having listened to a few tracks on their Myspace page they seem very pleasant to listen to, but not particularly exciting or original (like Radiohead or Muse).

Mew are quite nice, although not incredibly original.
And muse are overrated imo.
Either that or I just don't about good songs of them (as opposed to the ones they have on mtv)
Also I don't really like the whole whining style of singing.

I really like muse and yes radiohead is good but every song I heard of them lately has sounded a LOT like like oasis - wonderwall. Anyway, anyone heard Foo Fighters new album (well one or two months old now i Guess) I think its really good the guitar and bass lines and the lyrics amazing!

Muse are very good, certainly one of my favourite bands if not my favourite.
Although I can understand why people wouldn't like them...
In a way they were the first "rock" band that I got into, so I kind of have a nostalgic thing with some of their songs.
It's hard to say some of their best songs because they do a wide variety of styles, but if you want to try them out look up something like Time Is Running Out, Hysteria, Plug In Baby, Bliss, Knights Of Cydonia.

... and Butterflies and Hurricanes, my personal favourite. Absolute genius. Make sure it's the album version. Or even better, listen to the whole of Absolution. There's more to bands than just good individual songs, and this album probably demonstrates that more than their others.

Yeah, Absolution is probably their best album imo.
Either that or Origin of Symmetry. I guess I prefer Absolution because I heard it first...
