Yeah Myst is boring. Not only there aren't any characters, there isn't even a hope of finding any characters... Just go through ruins of lost civilizations. Gets real boring real fast.

It was primarily acclaimed for its visuals and came out at a time when adventure was a popular genre. Since then it became a classic and one of those "u r not a true adventure fan if you don't luv Myst" type of games. Half the people that claim to love it are just going along with the crowd. Like Final Fantasy 7 for example.

Echomote: For the reasons I said. I think it was the first FinalFantasy with nice-ish FMVideos, dark-ish story, and a love tragedy. So in a way, it was the first big one. Afterwards, thousands of fans sucked in others with their "every true FF fan loves this game" mentality. I think FF8 is far more sophisticated and superior, but most "true fans" will tell you that it's a piece of shit.

Gabandre: Never really finished Myst, so I can't say it's bad from start to finish. I just couldn't get into it because it had no characters. I would have prefered if it was more along the lines of "the Dig." Enigmatic, but with character interaction.

Yeah, well never played FF VII but I heard from real fans that's not that good. My fav FF is FF IX It's really cute.

Don't know about Myst but I have it since early this year and never felt like playing it more than 5 minutes, maybe it's boring, maybe it's not. I will not be sure until I damn play it.

But well, on topic: Final Fantasy IX, LBA2, Day of The Tentacle, Dividead, SimCity 3000, almost any Leisure Suit Larry game, Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit and lots of other games I don't want to remember right now

It is.
But then, most RPG's are, and FF at least, historically, helped establish a template to many other RPGs.

I dont like FF, but I love GoldenSun, and without FF, stuff like GoldenSun would not have been possible.

Never played Myst, but there has been games without charecters that I have enjoyed.
Metroid Prime, for example.
If a landscape is atmospheric enough, the feeling of loneliness can be of benefit to the feel.

Nope, I can't say a thing about PoP3D, got that library bug, I liked the first one. (Not the PC one )
