Sorry for the delay, but I tried running it in Ubuntu 9.04 and couldnt get it to work
![]() Pretty sure its something I'm doing wrong though. All the updates seemed to go fine. (I basicaly deleted the first bit of text from the install file and run it from terminal, saying my password and yes at the correct times). It prompted for the Ubuntu disc at one point, which I gave it (well, I mounted the iso, which seemed to work). Anyway, despite all the files being installed, and LBAnet in the correct directory, I get nothing when I run it. No error, no message or pop up...nothing ![]() I'm not an expert in Linux, so I'm not sure how to diagonise further.

Could the DOS-style window that LBANet uses be a problem?
Edit: New LBA1Expanded-Release! 1) Sendell's Well is now fully available. 2) FunFrock's Fortress outside as well. 3) Some minor fixes. Unzip the file into your /Data folder. Last edited by Kobold; 2009-07-26 at 00:17. |

Looking pretty smooth!
I'm scoring a rather low 64fps. Is it capped, or is something being really hard on my GPU? I play Fallout 3 with a higher FPS, haha. Anyway I quite like the new style and icons! Somewhere in the new patches my client.config file got replaced, and my being too lazy to set it to fit my resolution again, made me think of a question: can you somehow read what resolution the clients monitor has, and set it to that on default when in full-screen mode? If you can't, it would be an option to change your resolution in the 'options' menu, so you don't have to restart the game for adjusting it. Keep it up! Every update just makes me more excited ![]()

The game is actually capped at about 60FPS so it is pretty normal.
As for the resolution thing, I am planning to have that under the option menu among other things as you suggested but I can not tell you for now when that will be featured in ![]() Last edited by Rincevent_123; 2009-07-27 at 15:40. |

64fps is fine as long as its nice and stable.
Human eyes arnt that great. We can detect an "odd frame out" at a crazy-high framerate (200fps or something), but if all the images are similar (as in most real-life and game situations), we dont notice much change over 60fps. In fact, you can get away with really low framerates if the game can do good quality motion blur. (which is why real films are fine at 24fps). [/random info]

Currently, the game is capped at the vsync rate of the monitor.
And I guess there is no real point at making it higher since anyway the monitor can not refresh faster than that. |

Oh, don't get me wrong
![]() I think anything higher than 24fps is fine as well. But it was just a technical thing I was wondering. If it runs at 64fps at my PC, then maybe low-spec pc's might not even make it to 10. IF there is some technical thing pulling all the power out of GPU's, that is. But as you've just confirmed it is capped, there's no problem. ![]()

I currently have a problem starting the game. I can't run offline mode because the game detects the server and asks me for the password, but after that the connection fails and nothing happens. When I close the window, a message shows up in the window for a fraction of a second and I can't read it.

Sorry guys, I was not here this evening and the server seems to have frozen during this time.
I will look into that tomorrow to find out what caused the issue. One tip if that happen again and you still want to play locally. Just edit the config.client file and change the address of the 2 first lines so that the game can not find the server anymore and run in local mode. |

Hi guys,
No new release for now. I am preparing new contents and it will take me still a bit time. But I am sure you will be happy seeing the results, so just a little bit more patience. Waiting for that, here is the link to the full downloadable version of LBANet v0.33 as I was asked to provide: http://www.mediafire.com/?yzytmjcdzjz So basically, it is the full patched version of the game so that people do not need to download all patches separatly. |

Really nice stuff
![]() Havnt got around to checking Linux again yet, but trying the windows one out worked great. A few random comments for fixs; * Anti-alising/Texture filtering would be nice...reduce the pixaly look a little. * Stylus suppoter for fullscreen? Non-relative mouse input seems to really confuse it. * Make twinsens jumps look a little better when running? Its odd how he stops completely to jump. (This is a low priority thing for now though). Long term ideas; * Perhaps there could be an item that helps you find people. For example, just a simple sphere that glows hot or cold, making hide-and-seek games a little easier? * And, as an another item, something that can mask you from being found by that :P

Hi guys.
THe server will be on for the day. Dark: Quote:
- sorry i did not catch your second question. Do you mean that you do not see the cursor in fullscreen mode? - for the jump: actually in lba1 there was no running jump and the behavior was exactly the same as it is now in lbanet. Only in lba2 you had the runing jump. I could implement runnning jump this is not an issue, but I do not have any character animation for that currently. Once we integration character for LBA2 then it should solve the problem. Last edited by Rincevent_123; 2009-08-02 at 12:29. |

I think its the filtering more then aliasing. Generally the ground textures are more pixaly then they should be when moving. Like a faint sparkly effect.
You can use nvidia drivers to force AA/Filtering and it looks better, so it should be possible to do it in code. -- Quote:
Its a common problem with software expecting relative mouse input, and then finding a stylus input instead (which just gives a stream of X/Y positions, not displacements). I'm not sure how to fix it, but its common enough it should be possible to google-up a solution. Quote:

Tried this out yesterday; seems to have great potential but I think my graphics card was having trouble with it (yes, I know) which limited the amount of fun I was actually having with it. Nice that it works so easily, I just hope everyone else was seeing a better picture than I was. The only thing that really struck me straight away was the lack of a proper menu, I think that would be really nice. But great work!

Hi Kitarii,
For your graphic card problem, could you explain what it exactly is? Did you try to install the last drivers from the card manufacturer (not the default windows drivers)? This usually solve most of the issues there. As for the menu, there will be one coming with next release ;-) |

Rincevent, I doubt there's anything you can actually do on your end. I don't know what my graphics capabilities are exactly off-hand, but my laptop is actually a macbook (and I'm dual booting windows), so the specs are not exactly game quality. I'm not surprised it's having some trouble with the display, I'll try it out on a better PC another time.

Has anyone beside me tried this version yet?
I'm just getting an error-message "Couldn't start the process. Programm-configuration is incorrect. reinstalling should solve the problem" (translation from german) This is just with this new update. The yesterday's Update that kobold sent me worked fine Last edited by leoboe; 2009-08-04 at 13:36. |
