Even if it was LBA3, it would never be confirmed. Developpers wait for events such as E3 to make grand announcments. So the only time you would really get any information will be around that time!

No they don't. It's the publishers or upper management that wants to do bug things for events like E3. For developers it is very stressful to do events like E3. Because it usually means they have to crunch to create a demo, which is a huge distraction from the usual game development.

Indeed.
E3 helps games journalists a lot more then it helps developers or games in general.
Games are either rushed to show at E3, or delayed pointlessly to show at E3.
Much better if games were just shown when they were ready, imho. Especially so things dont get hyped 2 years in advance of release and in the meantime smaller gems get missed.

That's not the impression I get working at one of the UK's largest game devellopers It is more than stressfull to get a demo out, still everyone loves the publicity that comes as a result.

I know that for last E3 everything went tits up at my company because the game had some serious issues that needed to be resolved with less than a week to go.

I think its more like all the publicity is all at once in one big pile, rather then spread out over the year :P
I think the advantages to E3 might be more the social aspects (developers getting some independant feedback on their work) rather then it actually helps sales.
