_AIL_init_sample@4 issue with GOG version of LBA2
So, at first it was a mss32.dll issue that I fixed by downloading the dll file. But now it says "The procedure entry point _AIL_init_sample@4 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll."
I remember I did something before that made it work but every time I launched the game the colors would be inverted and it would never go past that first image of Twinsen and Zoe. I am using the GOG version. One weird thing I noticed is that right after installation the game launched automatically, and it worked beautifully. But never after that. If I delete the game and re-install it works perfectly again the very first time. Suggestions, solutions? Thanks! |

That's a weird email.
Yes, this post is pretty stupid and I have no idea how to help you, but maybe someone else will see the thread now! Otherwise you can always ask for help on the GOG forum, LBA section

And this happens with GOG? Strange.
Try this. Uninstall the audio drivers and re-install once again. To uninstall audio drivers from the device manager follow these steps: a. Click on Start. b. Type "Device Manager" in the search bar. c. Click on Device Manager. d. Select the device you wish to uninstall in the Device Manager window and uninstall it. e. You can also uninstall by right clicking on the device and selecting Uninstall from the context menu. A dialog box will open asking you if you really wish to uninstall the driver. Click Yes,then OK in the next window. Install the audio drivers from the manufacturer's website. |

I think Streggy meant that the message you got was weird because nobody has had such a thing happen with the GOG version before. So its strange to us since we all call the GOG version "the ultimate answer to solving LBA problems" lol.
He meant that his post was silly because he couldn't offer any help. No need to get upset at him. You just misunderstood him. Relax ![]() EDIT: lol I was too late to reply too ![]() |

Its cool. I was just late with my reply
![]() Lemme see what else I can find out. Battler and Renesans would probably most definitely know a solution if you want to PM them too ![]() |

Let's see...
Why did you download mss32.dll in the first place? What was your problem? I don't think it's needed for the GOG version because it uses DosBox, which is basically a "don't modify anything, it just works" kind of method to run the game. |

1: You currently have an incorrect version of the mss32.dll file. 2: There is something wrong with your computer's registry. How did you fetch a new mss32.dll file? |

Hey there! Are you using the shortcut given at the installation? Or are you running LBA2.exe directly? If you're doing the latter, you're not using DosBox (that's the intended way for the GOG.com version). I also have the color problems running LBA2.exe directly but if I run it from the shortcut (uses a preconfigured DosBox) it runs normal.
EDIT: You must have a wrong version of mss32.dll, I copied mine from the CD and it runs without "errors". Still as I said before, it has graphical issues running from LBA2.exe directly

Yeah, I've been launching it wrong then.
So, where should I put the correct mss32.dll file? |

This might be of no help but if you have LBA1 installed also, could you copy the mss32.dll. file from LBA1 over to the LBA2 system folder? Maybe the .dll. file in your LBA2 is corrupt.

You have to run the shortcut as Admin also don't you? It wouldn't open for me unless I "right-clicked" the shortcut and selected "run as administrator".

![]() EDIT: LOL, it actually wasn't me, it was Necdilzor who figured out (s)he wasn't launching the game correctly, which was the root of the problem. Last edited by Renesans; 2013-05-23 at 01:24. |

Great to hear that Dippindots! Remember, GOG games work while you use it as intended, a.k.a. play from the shortcut!
![]() We're always here to help! @Zee I believe LBA1 doesn't use the mss32.dll file since that's for windows and LBA1 is DOS only. I could be mistaken ^^
