Well, there are different types... I mostly like the melodical/progressive types of metal, not death/black/gothic metal. It's a big difference.

What about Queen and Guns and Roses, they've made some of the best songs in the world, and they are defeated by linkin park and Blink 182?(I like Blink and LP but they can't measure themselves with the greatest rockbands of the last century)
