What is The AniMatrix ?

A series of 9 animated stories detailed the history and some side storys in the Matrix universe.

I thought the first eppisode, was excelent, well worth downloading.
Just 10 minutes long "Second Renaissence: Part 1" detailes the raise of the machine empirer. Much like a futuristic history leason.

I liked the story because it showed both sides, the machines wernt portrayed all-evil and such, and the humans wernt inocent of there fate by any means.
Allthough the story has a few things in common with Terminator's mythology, its far more balanced,making it seem more realistic.

The animatrion style was a mix of cartoon and cell-shaded CGI.
Comming accross like a dark version of futurama, with some tin-tin style artwork too.
It was effective and cool way of doing it, particularly as they mixed a few real life scans into it.

Yes, 9 in total.
Each one is being made by a different animation team around the world.
Each will be in a different style, and directed by someone different.
The Matrix team is closely suporvising them to make sure the quality and story matchs the matrixs.

4 of these storys will be made free on the new, at the link I gave.
1 of them, possibly the most antipated, will be showen in front of selected films. "Final Flight of the Osiris", made by the animation team that did Final Fantasy (allthough dont panic, they didnt do anything else...)

The last 4 will be avaible on a special DVD released later this year.

One final note, is that there are rumours that they may make another series of Comics apon which the films were based.
The oringinals were shortlived, but if rumours are to be believed, they are looking to make them in short strip form, and published in a megazine such as 2000AD.

I don't see why people would bother to get it from filesharing networks - the official site completely filled my bandwidth, so I don't think it will go much faster otherwise . It's like downloading freeware/shareware trough p2p.

Animatrix - saw the 1st episode a few weeks ago, nice, but it was merely an introduction... didn't like the 'Charlie Chaplin' robots concept very much, but I'm sure it will work out better for the next episode.

Darkflame: Har Har, I told you it was going to be good.

I mainly liked the first episode for its storyline, although most people I know who saw it demanded more "action" from it. I think its a nice balance, since you will see pleanty of action in eps like "Flight of the Oasis."

FB2K: i'm there will later come a good reason to why we should dislike this machines (besides, using humans as batterys).

I agree with the splatter thing, I think they could have brought it different, less ehm...cruel or something like that( also with the woman droid).
But yes, it looked really great.

no, the thing with the girl wasn't very special. if you want to see splatter, try and read the akira comics. that have splattered heads on almost every page.

Just saw episode 2, very cool action, but didn't like the classical Japanese/Chinese (?) setting very much. Plot was nice . Art was nice too, I liked the lighting especially at the ending.

It even had a nice slowmotion rotation scene .

dunno...now that I registered Quicktime I like it.
Its faster to load and "cleaner" then WMP.

Still, Divx player is the best if it was more compatble.

I saw the Second Renaissance Part I again yesterday, it made me feel real good unlike the new episode.

Windows Media Player 6.4 is the best and is still included with every Windows version (mplayer2.exe). I agree that every new WMP is crap.
I never actually used the DivX 'playa'.
You could consider BSPlayer for your average videos, it seems to be popular and lighter than WMP.

QuickTime (for Windows at least) is programmed very inefficient, it has a slow interface and isn't handy in general use. And having to register for a fullscreen option... I don't know.

XviD video and Ogg Vorbis sound are the best compression method at the moment I think: both are opensource and don't have license problems like DivX 3.11. And standard compliant codecs are at all times better than things like QuickTime, Real and Windows Media which need their own programs, making you unable to choose.

Yes, it sucks.
But then again, not having the option to pic the size of movie playback in full-screen mode sucks too.
(ie, Quicktime can have a black screen with a movie small in the center, or it can enlarge it too percentages of the size with the screen still black around it).

Divx player is great.

And as for Liesence problems with Divx....there isnt any.
You said that before, but its wrong.
Divx is built from the ground up, its NOT a hacked codec, allthough its code is clearly based on Mp3/mpeg.

Thus its perfectly legal, its even being used in Modern DVD players and Gamesconsoles.
(All future Gamecube games can have DivX video playback, for instance)

The male character's voice in the second episode was bad and very flat. The girl's voice though, sounded like she was the one who had acted in Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.
