I just saw the Animatrix dvd.
To be honest, they did pick 4 of the better episodes of the DVD to release for free (to attract dvd customers).

1. Final Flight of the Osiris
2. The Second Rennaisance part I
3. The Second Rennaisance part II
4. Program
5. A Detective Story
6. Beyond
7. Matriculated
8. World Record
9. Kid's Story

I'm not saying all the others were bad, not at all. 'Beyond' and 'Kid's Story' were very nice.

The Second Renaissance part II is a bit less descriptive than part I, unfortunately. It shows some scenes of the human <-> machine war, resulting in a lot of cruel images. But it's a good sequel of part I ofcourse.

'Matriculated' and 'World Record' were the worst in my opinion. But at least they have some interesting insights.

All were interesting to watch, all add some new perspectives to The Matrix. And the action in 1, 4 and 9 were amazing.



It's released exactly as it should be: next to the Matrix trilogy, as a nice add-on for the fans, and not as a main act.

Just watched the first two episodes... Wow... Amazing... I like both of them. Excep the fact that they are Qtime files... agggh Why not Divx? I think I'll buy the DVD.

Well, actualy there pretty sweetly compressed Quicktime.
Not sure what codec they used (remember quicktime, like Avi isnt a codec...)

Theres s seperate download for Mac users anyway (its *.sit compressed, which is there version of *.zip)

I saw "Program"... COOOL!! I think the quality is better than the first... I know, it doesn't add anything important to the plot, but it shows a very cool topic in the Matrix Universe: the wish to forget. The oriental-atmosphere is fantastic, I think.

Yeah, Program was like, these two people have at each other, end of story.

'Program' has great action, lovely voice acting and very good animation/artwork. The plot isn't that great, but you can't expect that from a 7 minutes cartoon.

Tip: watch it again, this time with loud sound on a subwoofer set. It gives me the shivers when the woman screams "I'VE HAD ENOUGH!" for example.

Fireball2K: When I said "better quality", I was talking about the image quality. Of course that "The 2nd Renaissance" is a lot more important for the storyline... but what do you mean by "it had no point"?. You sound kinda maniac... you know, looking all the time for watching only the war against machines, looking for Neo and company... be patient. As I said before, "Program" shows a colnflictive theme in Matrix. So I think that "Progam" has a point.

You'll be disappointed with the DVD then, only The Second Renaissance I and II are really about Matrix history, the rest are in fact "just random stories based on this world".

You do get different views on the matrix, just because they dont focus on the main charecters dosnt mean you dont get that
I mean, surely having different charecters makes it easier to gt different views...

The Second Renaissance II

Pretty dam good, allthough it felt a bit rushed at the end.
I loved the way there isnt a clear cut good/evil in it, that rare in storys these days

Also, I *think* that virtual lady narating is actualy the oracle, it would make sense wouldnt it?
She is at least some key figure, some benivelent observer of the events...

The only thing I thought it didnt explain too well was the idea of the first matrix being paradise.
(parhapes they wanted to stear away from the clear religious referances that came accros quite strong in the films if you look)

Sadly not. What I don't get is why the 3rd world gets it before us..... it doesn't make sense

It was a little bigger then "just" an island.

And the blast radius of a nuke isnt really that big at all, the radius of damage to robots would be far smaller then humans.

Still, a mass sweaping of nukes would be easier then blacking out the sky....

I've seen the Animatrix DVD. It's cool.

Well, It's not exactly on DVD I've got it
It's on DivX. It's really cool. You understand much more of the story around the matrix universe. Thumbs up.

Tip: it does pay to see the Animatrix before watching Reloaded (which I just saw in the cinema). At least two of the episodes give some extra background info on an event and an character in the movie. It's nice to realise that while watching it, rather than when looking back to it.
Now I want to try the game, to complete it all (didn't have time to complete that before the movie )

Another tip: in the cinema, when seeing Reloaded, stay until after the credits for a Matrix Revolutions mini-trailer.

Humans nuke the machines in the beggining. Thats what gets them screwed. And then nukes would do more damage to us than to robots. Robots aren't even affected by radiation.
