Incidently, Pixar have confirmed they are splitting up with disney.
They still got co-developed films in development (Cars & The Incredables), but after that they are going it alone.

Ok, im a bit disspointed
After the excelently witty treaser trailer, this is a bit of a let down.
Is it all Will-Smithy, which is wrong. (Susan Calvin in Asimovs storys had the stronger charecter as a robot physcitrists, but it looks like they have played down her part...)

Also from the trailer at least it looks like they have destroyed Asimovs vision.
The 3 Laws in asimovs books were absolute...there was no breaking of them. They wernt a casual plot element to be disgarding like a rag.

I still have high hopes of the film.
Maybe the plot does tie into Asimovs vision, maybe there is a neat plot explanation.

If this film is a success, maybe, just maybe, they will make the original epic sci-fi, Foundation into a set of films.....

I do like the design for the robots though, quite unique and well imagined.

Also, I noticed they used the Matrix Revolutions music thoughout the trailer.
Its a good piece of music, i just hope they arnt trying to associate themselfs with the Matrix. (after all, the trailer makes it look like the plots could fit....)

Wow, I love that Shrek 2 trailer.
What I hate with trailers of comedy movies is that they usually have all good jokes within the trailer. I hope that's not the case with Shrek 2.

I know they are doing all the Nania books, but are they doing them in chronological story order, or written order?

The Day After Tomorrow has a really cool poster, but I think its just going to turn out to be a cheesy dissater movie

What other Romatic Zombie Comadys have you seen then?

World Of Tommorow...a 60's style Sci-Fi with giant flying robots...err..nope havnt seen anything like that.

IROBOT might look a bit cliché, but (like LotR) the book was the source of a lot
of what has become clichés. Asimov is the source of not only most of the Sci-Fi in the world, but quite a lot of the actual science he predicted too.
It remains to be seen how true to the book the film is though.

For me, Asimov is like the the Godfather of sci-fi, inspiring God-knows how many ideas in any and every form of sci-fi. It is his works (well one of them) which inspired the holoponor on Futurama.

In one of his books, about 60 years ago, he talked of an advanced device on a spaceship that contained a map of the universe. You could rotate and display, zoom ect to help you plot course's.

Well the robbots are the exact copy of the ones in "Castle of Laputa" but indeed mixing them with a Crimson Skies' ambiance isnt common. I rather thought to comedies like Garfield (it looks so much like Stuart Little - I'm pretty sure they wont manage to honor the true great Garfield) or action movies like irobots. Of course Asimov is surely the source of all that, but anyway his film is now like destroyed by the amount of copies that have already been released.

As for IRobot, it all depends how true it is to Asimovs work.
I loved Dark City, and its directed by the same guy, but that wont help the story if they have taken too many liberties with Asimovs universe.

If its successfull, there is a chance for the epic Foundation to be made into a series of films. That easily has the potential to be the next generations star wars...but only if the books are handeled with respect.

Yes, and I remember thinking "uh oh" when I saw that 'Sky Captain' trailer at the cinema. Time will tell though I suppose.
