You liked it that much ? I found it extremely predictable au contraire, filled with either useless or boring characters, doing every cliché it can afford. Except one.
That robot is awesome and super-cute
His relationship with the main protagonist is also interesting, but nothing extraordinary.

*shrug* I didnt see that many cliches at all. Some were set up, many went the other way or became irrelevant though.
The cliches tended to be the smaller scenes, self-sacrifice moment near the end, etc.
I found pretty much all the tech depicted fairly original, the villain having decent motivation (to the point that really there was really two villains), and not seeing the other characters as useless.
===

Anyway;

Avengers : Age of Ultron - Fun movie. Better pacing then the original. The villain is excelent too. Not that, individual, the villain has any great plans or anything...just the "broken" nature of the character, the superby voice acting and mannerisms, and the little details making it come together. I guess the movie overall is mostly about the banter and characters then plot really. Despite the large cast nearly all of them have a arc, which is impressive. (Thor the only one that seemed to be lacking, his plot being basically a dues-ex for something else)

I also notice in the big battle scenes and that a large amount of the time is spent saving/protecting people. This is a good thing, of course, but the fact its emphasised so much I cant help think is a knock on the last Superman film, which people criticised heavily for Superman seemingly not caring what his destruction is doing.

Ant Man - A bit lower scale the most Marvel Movies. No "saving the universe" here, its more a Heist film. Slightly retro feel. But thats good.
I know it seems silly to say given the name, but I was pleased how much they used ants in the plot.
You can see traces of Eager Wrights hand in the fic, despite it being re-written to be in continuity.

Lego Batman Beleaguered - Before the Lego movie was a success, Lego was already making short CG flicks based on their DC video games.
This was pretty amusing. Basically exactly the same humor as youd find in the games, so not clever but still chuckle worthy.

Interstellar - Great flick, with some exceptions. The whole plot is a boot-strap paradox, and you just gotta accept that. "overall" that isn't clever, and its been done enough by now its not new.
The smaller stuff though is all pretty awesome. Treats the audience with respect, gets a surprisingly large amount of science accurate (to present knowledge). First time I have seen time-dilation due to gravity effects used in such a major plotpoint. Yes, thats all real science. Even the wormhole depiction made much more sense the every other time I have seen a wormhole on film.
And then the robots...I dunno how "realistic" they are, but those were darn cool. Screw humanoid robots. Humanoid robots should all die off. THOSE robots were cool. Very creative. More please.

The guest (2014)- really cool storyline, awesome soundtrack, finally an action movie that's not a parody of 80s/90s action movies. 9/10

Oh yeah, Why so ? I've heard poor Tim Burton was getting a bit tired and wasn't able to make as much original stories as he used to...

As I understand it, the story was basically something he did decades before anyway. Something he did when he was younger and this was sort of a remake.

Anyway, FrankenWeenie was ok, but Paranorman was superior.
I love pretty much all stop motion.

The Nightcrawler (2014) 8/10: Realy good movie, enjoyed watching it to the end just to see what was going to happen. I wouldn't recomment it to everyone, and it definitely takes things downright creepy sometimes, but its worth watching. The main character is a fucking psycho tho.

Nice in depth look at fur shading and DOF techniques in CG animations there.
==
Captain America: Civil War - yeah. Pretty much as good as the hype. Amazing how well it juggles so many characters, yet giving most of them solid arcs. Good core conflict. Good banter. Everyone ends in a different position to where they start.
Hard to think of a crit really.

One interesting conjecture I heard; Captain America is the only trilogy that has got better with each part.

I agree it got better with each part....but is it the only trilogy that has? Can anyone think of another? Theres certainly films where I like 1 and 3 better then 2.
But 1<2<3 is very rare indeed.

Agreed. It was a really good movie.

It also helped that I had seen Batman v Superman the night before...

A criticism I have is that the villan was pretty shit and his motivation was weak.

I started thinking about this and realized that I didn't know many trilogies xD

I myself am hyped about the Warcraft movie. Normally I wouldn't be, but from the trailer, it seems to have immigration add its central theme. Given the recent events, I find that quite bold from a mainstream movie.

I had zero interest in the warcraft film before that trailer. But the trailer did look very good and made me interested.
(was spoilt slightly by the film then having a pointless "sneak peek presentation" or something where they just repeated the trailer with someone talking in front...)

X-Men Apocalypse -
Not remotely aiming as high as Civil War was with its themes and complexity's. This is more just a live action cartoon....and I am fine with it.
I mean, really, this is just the 90s X-Men cartoon as live action.
My only issue is there was basically no Jubilee. Come on, you cast her, why not use her

Yep that's pretty rad imagery there Mr. Rabbot, do tell further.

I've seen many movies since I last posted here, but one that comes to mind right now is Wrong - a movie about a humble man who is looking for his lost dog. And naturally the best way to go about doing that is to learn telepathy. Also there's wet offices, undead gardners and feces clairvoyance. And others stuff. No spoilers though.

Sounds nice !

The lobster
It was described as humour... Either the journalist had been taking something, or it is way too dark for me, which I didn't know was possible...
Dystopian world, you are required by law to be in couple with someone, and you must have something in common. If you aren't, you're either turned into an animal of your choice, or you can run away to live in the forest where you're hunted down, then turned into an animal of your choice.
The whole is done with such realism I was litterally sickened, three guys casually talking about the metamorphosing process "First they skin you, melt your eyes, than take out your main organs, those that you won't need when being an animal."
Maybe I was just not prepared for this, but... Strong feelings.

Help! I Shrunk the Family - (it's not on IMDb, believe it or not) Yes, I just watched a Dutch children's movie dubbed to English. (sue me)

During the first minute I almost dismissed it as childish and moved on, but then it drew me in. Being a non-animated fantasy chidren's movie which is not something I usually watch it actually triggered some pretty dormant thoughts... about how I lost my imagination during the past decade of my life. Why do we have to grow up? I should really do something about that. It's distressing.

It's a fun movie and a good movie, regardless. Not childish, not in a bad way anyway. Recommended.

Or as Bunnyrabbot would probably say it,

They are surprisingly rare these days anyway.
And when you do get them, they are deliberately retro.
Not that thats necessarily bad.
I have hopes for this upcoming Netflix series.

Maybe its like Eerie, Indiana. I used to love that show.

Anywho...
Lego DC Comics Superheroes: Justice League - Gotham City Breakout
Reviewed By Darkflame (Type - film, CreatedBy - James Krieg)

Before Warner Bros had a hit with the against all odds excellent "The Lego Movie", it had quietly been churning out Lego animations on TV.
Its a rather strange journey, as the first movie - Lego Batman - was converted from the video game of the same name.
So, a tv movie of a video game, which itself is based on a construction toy and a comic.
(And this is not to be confused with the upcoming "Lego Batman" theatrical release, incidentally, - which stars a completely different Lego Batman.)
It all makes perfect sense.
Probably.

This film, the lengthily titled "Lego DC Comics Superheroes: Justice League - Gotham City Breakout" is the 6th dvd/tv movie in the series, so its fair to say WB has had quite some success with this strange franchise.
The film is nothing special plotwise - Superman tries to look after Gotham City while Batman goes on "holiday".
However, the humor continues to be surprisingly sharp - a trade mark of the Lego DC films. Arguably, they all ultimately owe thanks its video game origins, as it maintains the same "smart silliness" as the Travelers Tales games established. (the same people responsible for basically all the "Lego ___ ____" games)

However, as much of the humor draws from knowledge of batman and his specifically his other depictions, someone not familiar with the character is likely not to enjoy this nearly so much.Overall, while nothing particularly special, and not quite as good as the others in the series, its still a fairly entertaining animation, going at least slightly beyond what is needed for "children's entertainment".
