sgk: Think of it this way: it's like a message in a bottle. In our world, we put a message inside a bottle to protect it while it travels through the oceans to reach some other island. In other worlds, they put a message inside an asteroid to protect it while it travels through space to reach some other planet. In this case it is a gift, a guitar, rather than just a message.

Well it IS an amazing thing and I never heard of it!

Maybe it is a big thing here in the big cities but I don't really watch the news to be honest. And among my social circle/travel experiences/random people noone ever talked about it yet... hence my surprise... anyway, so how's this going in other countries? everyone has tried this yet? how was it? or you got stories of friends who did? share.

... gaah, that's also genius. What else guys? please pretend I've been in cryogenic state in a time machine locked in 2006 and I just arrived 10 years later to find out what's new.

hmm..
Not quite the same category but have you heard of FabLabs?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fab_lab

There's one near me and I've been a few times. Pretty cool/useful place.
In fact, when reviewing my 3d printer we visited it;

As for AirBNB/Uber, I haven't used either.
Generally I love decentralized approaches to things, although I am aware Uber has been accused of exploitation of its drivers in some cases.

As a few of you guys already know, I'm also from Brazil, and living on one of the largest cities of our country (Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais) I can tell you that airbnb is still not a common thing out here, though a lot of us have probably heard about it.

I just love those new trends. Hooray to the future \o/
Btw, Uber is amazing I'm probably never using taxi again

Yeah, right? too bad it's mostly available in big cities only... then again when travelling no longer will people be prone to be exploited by the taxis for tourists with ridiculous fares.

Use the service a couple of times.
I still think it's quite expensive comparing to other lodgements, but it's good when you're completely alone. Having to share the apartment always sucks imo.
Good thing is that you can always stay in contact with the person that rents you the room/apart. It happen to me in Dublin.

My sister used it a couple of times in London and said it allowed her to get very near the hospital she needed to get to and was cheaper than other accommodation in the same area and yes, she's still in touch with the couple she rented from!

I've used it one month ago in Osaka, only three nights unfortunately, so not much time to bond, but it was very fun ! One night my sister cooked while I played with the toddler

THAT'S AWESOME! 3 nights is quite some time. Hey, I could host Zoe anytime. Haha. Too bad where I live isn't quite... hm... touristic. It's quite boring actually. Just the usual brazillian suburbish areas and jungle.
