Hi!

I've planned that a new release might come in 1-2 months, it'll be release 1.1 and will have the following:
  • Better engine (mostly for larger .lim images (resizing and palette optimization))
  • Text color support built in the interface when creating full screen images (.lim)
  • Some bug fixes here and there
  • More automation when loading .HQR files

As you can see, not much (practically non) additions for those who like to edit sprites, spriraws and bricks.

Yet, therefore, I've came to ask if anyone tried the program and has any feedback, ideas or suggestions.

Either way, I'll try to make a new release before LIC's birthday (03-03). Also, it'll most likely be the final release.

To keep interest up, some screenies (of engine improvements)

The processed images use 256 different colors, and also notice the resizing algorithm taking place in LIC 1.1 engine (which actually is OK, but not great).

Original image:

LIC 1.0 image:

LIC 1.1 image:

GIMP version (for comparison) (linear resize first, then pal-optimization):

Yet, above images can be greatly improved with dithering (LIC 1.1 image with dithering):

Well, expect a release of LIC 1.1 quite soon!

Also, I tried use some algorithm that ImageMagick uses for palette optimization.

Lic 1.1

Hi, some very bad news is that the transparency that worked in 1.0 doesn't seem to want to work in 1.1 , and it doesn't even work after some hours of debugging.

Yet that's only what you see, the stored files are exactly as if they are transparent, it's just the GUI that has problem showing them. (for final releases you might want to check up with LBASceneViewer that everything is alright)

I blame the Visual components

Except for what above mentioned, there are only a few bugs I'm aware of.

LIC 1.1 is the final release, and I think it'll be the end of the LBA modding scenario for me. I sincerely hope that all the three known LBA modding projects will be able to with pleasure take advantage of my tool.

I'll of course continue help the LBA modding world if you need someone with LBA still images experience.

Also, everything I mentioned before about 1.1 has been fixed, also possibility to directly load .png and .jpg.

You can still ask me questions about my program. (of course)

moderators, please update the link in quick-tool thread

Well, I had a good time with the LBA modding community, I might continue or return, but right now I'm not thinking in those lines.

roflmao , I for this release forgot the credits too...

Leoboe tookscreenshots of LBA2, so I managed to figure out the text color format.

Dino-Fly tried to do what leoboe did, he tried ^^

Well the transparency bug, I have no idea. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the visual components fault, and you can still check in the 'editor mode' if the image has correct transparency.

And the reason that I got tired of LBA modification is probably due to I've other things I want to try too. Yet, as before mentioned, it might just be temporarily, I might as well return in no-time .

If you wonder why there is a final release for LIC, the answer lies in that it actually is more or less finished, nobody requested anything, so there were nothing such to add. However, it still has made it easy for anyone to create images to their HQR archives easily, and only thing that's a tiny bit off is the linear resize when it scales images to a bigger picture. The dithering, palette optimization and scaling down are quite good.
