Do you have the sound card described on this page? I've never used it, so I can give you only general recommendations.
The manufacturer tells that it is compatible with SoundBlaster Pro, SoundBlaster and Adlib. You'll probably have to experiment to find out which one works best. Roland MT-32 MIDI driver should also work, and would provide the best MIDI music quality. |

ARGHHHHHHH
I want to kill me !!!!!!!! 3 days I work to make the good music in LBA works......... to discover that she couldn't work because the LBA CD was in my second CD reader, that hadn't got the analogic cable to listen to the CD. Can anyone lend me a revolver ? I must kill me. So thanks for your advices, the sound doesn't work in my WIN 98 partition ("the sound blaster pro is in use by another program", whereas I have cleared all the programs that work) but it works very well with WINDOWS MILLENIUM. I dont understand but....... Thanks again, FIREPHOENIX (a lba fan) |

![]() Fantastic patch. After years of letting the LBA1 gather dust, it's now back where it should be. Aaaah. So far using the patch, I've had no problems whatsoever, but I can't seem to get the voices to work. Anything that I could do to help this? |

Snapman: Do you hear sound effects and music? If you do, try copying voice files to hard disk. If not, you may need to change sound card settings with LBA setup program. In both cases, read the PATCH.TXT file for more instructions.

Working fine now. All FX and Speech seems to be fine now. I've also just arrived at the Northern Hemisphere, and I've had no glitches so far...

So you still have video problems... Was there "my sound card won't work" in your post or did I misread it?
What kind of video problem do you have? "No VESA extensions" message, movies won't display, game crashes after scenery zooms, or something else? |

You misread it, or rdidn't read it for too long,
The sound card works now, But whenever I start to play, it crashes after about 5-10 mins, it crashes at random places, sometimes when I don't do anything. |

Close all programs that you can close before starting LBA, including those that show as system tray icons (players, messengers, "control centers", schedulers etc.).
Check properties for LBAWIN.EXE. Idle sensitivity (on "Misc" tab) should be set to Low, "Allow screen saver" should not be selected. |

sound?
Sorry to post unregistered.
First of all a big hello for everyone. I just found this forum. You guys are great with your patches to this obviously great game. I have a problem with it. It freezes before any of the animations. First I thought it was a video or graphics problem, but I found out that without sound it works just fine. If I put on sound though and turn off videos instead I don't get any sound out of my SoundFX settings, only midi music. The patch finds my settings perfectly. I have a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 card on P240 I2 D1 H7 P330 T6. I tried all soundblaster cards in the end. Is there anyway to get sound out of this kind of card in LBA. Please help. I would really appreciate it. Tahnks in forward to your help. P.s.: I have original CD and playing from the first D: drive secondary master (the only working CD-ROM at this moment) under a Windows ME. Gerg |

hmm, so you don't get any cd-music?
couple of things to try: -check at the setup if you also chose your soundcard for music (you need to pick that too) -I think it's posseble to choose a different soundcard for music than for Sound FX, try that - check in the option screen of LBA for the sound settings, see if the CD music is off I have experienced once that my sound was aweful aswel, unfortunantly I don't know a proper solution to it As for the Video, what have you choosen at the video settings? There is a chance that if you reinstall LBA and DON'T TOUGH the video settings, that it'll autodetect your card (in a sort of way) What video card do you have anyway?

Thx for your reply (if it came to me)
But my video settings are fine, they work perfectly it's only when starting to play soundfx under videos that it freezes, but might be the problem. I have an ASUS GeForce 64M AGP x4 card. Probably not the best for a DOS based game. And ofcourse I'm willing to try all the ideas you guys come up with, so don't be shy ![]() Thanks again for writing! Gergo |
