Hey, yesterday I watched a farscape episode for the first time,
i only know it was from the 4th season, and i watched the secondhalf of it.

In this episode, there was a small fort of primitves, who were fighting a horde of "Venneks" i think it was.
Beast looking things.

But a dude, a dudette, and another beast looking thing came thru a gap in the time continum to help them.
I think they were supposed to set history right, or something like that.
Also there was a planet called moya that kept disappearing and reappearing, i think it has to do with the history changing.

So from what i gather, the show is about a group who travel through time to protect history...
Is anywhere close on target?

*falls of her chair*

I don't quite know what ep that is, I probably missed it

Nah, that's one of the classical time eps that are in scifi

Oh and Moya is a ship, not a planet

Lightwing: I don't know, I do think the ending pretty much...erm... sucked in compairing to the rest of the ep (it really looked like a perfect ending), but to say it totaly sucked? nah

Farscape dosnt stick to rules like that.
Its part of what makes it so oringinal..because its less predictable.
You generaly dont have a quite series emotional dispute in an eppisode thats half a cartoon either.
Heck, some of the most important scenes are mixed with humour.

err..Im pretty sure the mummy was supposed to be stupid.

Anakin ~ I know the eppisode you were talking about, its quite different too most eppisodes.
Typical, the first one you see is an odd-ball.
Anyway, keep watching, you wont regret it

I'm quite sure that Farscape won't survive. The thing defies too many hollywood elements. And you have to have a LOT of money if you're going up against Hollywood.

well, the thing is that it's quite popular actually

the only reason they cancelled it was because the advertisers aren't interested in the public that was watching it...

It was the second most watched show on sci-fi.
(After Stargate).

It typicaly recieved a rating of 1.3-1.6 vs Stargates 1.5-1.8
The ratings representing the number of people that can recieve the channel vs the number of people who watch the show.

So, that means about 1.4% of the people in america that can recieve the channel watched the show.
Thats a hell of a lot of people.

oh, and its also has by far the highest number of female viewers for a sci-fi show.

I don't think you paid attention to what I have said. I mentioned money...nothing of popularity.

Well, the thing is that it wasn't for the so called "Shopping bags with legs" or in other words women between the 25 and 45...

But then again, would it truly be that difficult to find advertisers for Scifi? I mean, Startrek went well enough...

Did you know that during the year that Half-Life came out, the top selling items on that market were Barby video games?

I can't believe they replaced Farscape with more Stargate episodes.

Stargate sucks. A complete disgrace to the movie saga. They ruined the magic. The movie had such a mystic feel to it. A sense of adventure.

SG-1 appears to be another hollywood warfare movie only a bit futuristic.

But it doesn't make any sense. Farscape earned so many awards and was very appauled by Sci-Fi channel. Why would they ever cancel it. Do they hate the Brits that much?

Darkflame: Yes, 2.2 million would be quite a few people (its people right?). Might be too late then.

And 1.4% of American population is around 3 million.

Yes, but not all the US population can recieve the sci-fi channel no?
I think its the preportion that watch over the preportion that recieve or something.
---
The BBC absolute ratings figure is much simplier
2.2 Million = 2.2 million people.

Farscape was probably canceled purely because Sci-Fi couldnt afford it. There in real trouble money wise.

Problem with Stagate, is even if you like it, its going to be over shortly anyway.
THEN the sci-fi channel has nothing new at all.....

(Sniff) I love Sci-fi, but looks like it's not possible to watch Farscape in Latin America. I should think in buying the DVD edition (ADV Vision). Darkflame... is Farscape a long series? How many episodes?

Farscape is 4 seasons, so its quite big.
In the UK the best way of buying the DVD's is in Box sets of 2 DVD's (normaly 5 eppisodes).
--
However, that will work out quite expensive if you want to buy them all.
I do strongly recomend it, the series really builds up at season 2/3 with great "epic" storylines.
--
You sure its not on any Channel?
Im supprised
