lol!

Seriously, though - that's really quite ... a thoughtful subject.

Like everyone else said: very ... interesting.

It's interesting, and that means within the next one thousand years when Global Warming kills the planet WE WILL HAVE A COOL place to go to.

Apart from this being an extremely interesting scientific fact, It proves that Twinsun isn't such an uncommon planet.

I'm skeptical about moving planets though. How can you move the enitre population of the earth? You can't, really. Next, we need to think of something that will enable us to send probes that far into space and still be able to communicate with us, and have enough fuel, not to mention speed. And then, we need to colonise the planet. not really an easy job.

a) Depends how big the population is.
At some point, we WILL need population controlls, that is envitable.
10 billion? 100 billion?

Earth could probably manage 10,000 billlion, but not confortably by any means. I would guese withen the next 2000 years we will need worldwide population controlls.

2 children per familys max, no fucking fertility treatment (not while theres millions of children needing adoption at least), no one with fatal inherited decease's ect ect.
Have to be pretty strict by todays standards.

b) Euro lunched a probe to the moon recently using an Ion Propulsion techology.
Its extreamly slow, taking years to reach the lunar orbit.
But, unlike the fleat of probes going to mars, this techology requires almost no fuel.

If your patient, Ion propulsion can take you to the nearest Star with a lifetime, the nearest planet withen a few centurys.

Now, there huge time periods, but they will dragisticaly reduce as technology improves.
The next step is fusion/ion hybred drives, probably coming online withen the next few decades.
They could half or quater the time easily.

Remember also, space is frictionless, you never slow down.
You only need fuel to accelerate, and stear.
The big probablem is supplys, you would need a huggggggge cargo ship full of supplies.
But then, in space, weight, mass, size.....none of its a problem.
Might take awhile to build, but its not impossible.

They key to all this is generation ships, the most realistic choice for future ships. (presuming we dont invent warp drive ).

Basicaly, you get an comet, hollow it out, dump a city in their and a rocket engine on the back.
Then you can take a few generations to reach the new earth
(comet ice can be used for water, hydrogen fuel, and oxygen).

Repeat that with a few comets and bingo, instant exvacuation

OR you can use this design I made earlier:

http://www.darkflame.co.uk/BOJ/Desig...n_Mollusc.html

Enginering any of these things would almost certainly require centurys, and space elivators.
Space Elivators we might see in our lifetime, carbon-chain "ropes" have a lot of funding for development, and thats the main thing needed for a space elivator

Bleh. I don't think its gonna happen in our lifetime. Besides, space has no ADSL

good

Predictions for our lifetime are:

The first space elivator constucted,
The first use of Ion/Fusion engine,
Life found withen our solo system (either this christmass, or in 30 odd years when we figure out a way to get a probe into Europes oceans),
