Obras, some of your points are a tad crazy.

1. There will be more Terror attacks
2. Skype will get even bigger
3. Hopefully TP will become more heard of, and we will actually get some screenshots/background.
4. DS will become more popular than the PSP.
5. Movement and development of new optical media will happen a lot quicker than it has so far.
6. Broadband prices will drop in the UK, and speeds will go up.
7. Computers break 4Ghz for home users. Much cheaper than it is currently
8. The Cassini Huygens probe will enlighten scientists about both Saturn and Titan.

That's all for now.

Well, lets not be unrealistic. It dosnt "project" the image like you see in star-wars and such.

What it does is give "depth" to the image you see on the screen by feeding each eye a seperate image. The image never escapes the borders of the screen
It is full colour, but the dissadvantages are a half horizontal res and reduced viewing angle. The 3D effect can be turned on and off. (when off you get full horizontal res).

The effect is still very impressive though.
I see no reason for it not to be a standard in the future.

How much are we looking for one now though? And what about refresh rates and the like? Surely they'd be different?

I can't wait for that to become like today's TFT's price wise.

They are like todays TFTs price wise, only with smaller screen sizes.
Refresh rates are the same, because its rendering half resolution to each eye. (so the total area per second is the same).

There might be slow down working out the "depth" information, but thats a 3DCard mater.

Of course I meant 'real' hologram, not sci-fi one
Like, when you look into the screen and it seems there's actually something inside.

Does that what it do?

I think so.
From what I heard on the news it's like those IMAX movies, except now you don't need those weird glasses.

There are more important things to waste money on. If you wanna use your eyes to watch something that look real you can go out for a while.

But something goes wrong and the DNA falls into the hands of a mad scientist, creating Bizzaro Jesus!!!!
  • Giving into the preasure from the movie-industry, Pixar will release a bad movie
  • Microsoft and Sony try to buy each other. The only change occuring is the swapping of the logo.
  • Starwars 3 will be the best of the prequels yet
  • But no one will care because they are too mad at Peter Jackson for his plans for making a prequel to Lord of the Rings, named Episode One: Here and Back Again (with gueststar Jar Jar Balin)
  • I will finally get my driver's license.
  • Square finally announces the Final Final Fantasy, just after they announced their ideas for the next 6 DragonQuests
  • A Square employee also mentioned that there "will however be 'expensions'" to the Final Final Fantasy, which will bare names like 'Final Final Fantasy B and Final Final Fantasy C'

That's all for now

Yes, you have depth to the image and it goes out slightly.
Much like old Red/Green pictures, or Sterogrames.....only without the obvious problems of those methods

So you thought colour TV was a waste of money too?

At the moment, its a choice between flat with a few more inchs, or 3D with a few less. (same price).
IMO the 3D makes up for a smaller screen.

The paralax barrier techique isnt stupidly expensive like volumetrix techiques, and will come down in price at the same rate as flatscreens.

If the TFTs are like IMAX then they will kick ass. Of course I'm sure it will be a real GFX starin to work out the proper depth for each object whilst you run around the Black Mesa compound so I will have to wait until the technology becomes more settled before investing

On the subject of true 3d monitors - the Perspecta 3d is still in development. It works using a spinning disc to act as a surface for the light. The main problem thay currently have is bandwidth according to geek.com.

EDIT:

Having looked at the info leaflet it seems that the display only refreshes at 30Hz, displays only a couple of hundred colours (dithered) and needs an UltraSCSI connection to cope with the bandwidth demand. Needs a lot of work but I can see the porn industry wanting a part of this one. 3D porn will push the 3d monitor into the spotlight!

See http://www.actuality-systems.com/ind.../photo_gallery
for more details etc.
