My DS is currently collecting dust.

But the PSP line up looks just as un-inspiring.

Another Code looks great. (we are getting it earlier then expected too, compared to the US).

I recently got Yoshis Touch & Go ~ Great game as long as you expect a puzzle game, not a platformer.
I also got a weird japanise game, I dont even know the name off

Its kinda like a cross between a 2D platform game, Golf, and Pokemon.
Its weird..and I havnt a clue whats going on most the time.
But it was £9 from play asia when I got it, and it was worth it.
You take your shot by spinning the stylus around then releaseing it in an certain area....that effects how you whack these poor little round creatures...then you can do special moves in mid air.

lol...well, I dought it will come out in the UK.
Still, I am enjoying working it all out.

Rogue Agent DS is out in the US next week, and while the console version sucked, I have hopes the portable will be quite good. Metroid proved that FPS work well on the system.
And it would be pretty tough to make an upto 8 player death match not be fun

Just wondering if someone can help me.

I'm thinking about importing Electroplankton from lik-sang or play-asia, but having never imported from another country outside the EU before, I'm just wondering what costs I'll incur on customs. Can anyone help? Also, how long does the delivery normally take.

And finally, which is the better out of lik-sang and play-asia?

Games you should be 100% fine with...the costs are too low to bother with
www.play-asia.com I get all my games from and have never been charged customs on a game (I have ordered all 5 of my DS games from them...some in sets of two, I also ordered WarioWare Twisted from them).

Hardware you are more likely to get hit by customs, but its random really there.

I've imported Ipod Minis and not got charged customs. It's only really if you get unlucky - and I think you only get taxed on "gifts" over £30. Never-the-less paying 17.5% on £25 won't break the bank so I'd just take the risk

actualy you get taxed for anything but "gifts"
But you cant really pretend imports are "gifts" easily

I hope it gets a raphical overhaul - but all in all YAY!!!

On the Cube front - just bought Jungle Beat plus Bongos....the game ownz in a very serious manner...My arms burn from all the bongoing I've been doing. The only problem is the game is too short - other than that it is a strange fest of hitting and violence and seriously odd bosses. Now - just gotta get Platinum on everything

Well 2 good things for this week:

1) Another Code is out Friday
2) I got a Belkin Wireless G Network Card so now I have my own Nintendo download booth. My current favourite is Trauma Centre - although the Japanese text is making operation 2 quite difficult.

This got me on to thinking - the homebrew code wont work cos there is no multiboot instruction sent. So what if someone did this.

*WifiMe sends multiboot loader binaries
*Multiboot also has a front end which allows you to download more code on top of the existing code
*Multiboot App downloads homebrew .nds
*homebrew .nds can run cos the multiboot code is loaded in memory.

1) Yup. Probably going to get that
2) Got a wireless card I might ordered from amazon soon so I can try stuff out.

Oh, and unfortunately homebrew code wont run because theres a 512bit encyrption on all exacuteable code.
Its unbreakable (unless a lot of uses [few thousand] got organised and left their pcs running for a few months).

I think the hacked firmware is the way to go.
Look on the brightside of firmware crack:
a) You will also be able to use the full features of the new GBAMovieplayer. (touchscreen, full DS quality ect).

b) No more stupid safty message every time you turn on!

Another thing I notice about my wifi card - it's no good for WEP hacking

You can hack it with just a PassMe+WiFi I think.
Sure I read that somewhere recently.
The Passme gives it the codes from a legit game for it to run unsigned code from the wifi.

PassMe's are pretty cheap, but in very short supply.

Well I got Another Code on Sunday so here are my thoughts so far:

Story - you play a girl called Ashley who has gone to Blood Edward Island to find her father. Until her 14th birthday Ashley believed her father to be dead - but now it seems he is alive. The story is fairly dark and engrossing and well told. Interesting note - Ashley's birthday is 29th May - which is the same as mine - all the signs were good

Graphics - The bottom (overhead) screen is rendered in full 3d and is very nicely presented. It would be nice to have an option to move the camera as the overhead view does not always make it easy to find what you are looking at - nor do justice to the graphics. Movement is beautifully slick. Top screen is a prerendered graphic of verious areas or characters - very well done.

Controls - The game can be operated with the touchpad alone although some rudimentary options are available via the buttons. I use the D-pad for easier - less obstructed movement. Puzzles often involve rubbing, blowing tapping etc but usually aren't too difficult (with the exception of the rubber stamps ) Exploration of a scene can only be done in certain areas and is largely a case of double-tapping on the few items in the scene. There aren't nearly as many items in AC as in PC point-and-clicks and interaction is limited to predetermined actions. Because of this you cannot pick up items before you trigger a need for them - which can be annoying if you know you'll need something later. Conversation is limited (thus far) as there really aren't that many people about. Conversations follow set lines as with all point-and-clicks.

Sound - The music is pleasant and slightly Japanese in tone. The sound effects are a bit below par imo and the patter of text gets annoying. The gunshots are especially weak and some of the cutscenes could have benefittied from some clips of digitised speech/screams etc.

Gameplay - Gameplay is pleasant but not spectacular. You wander from one puzzle to the next in a very linear manner with very few side/symultaneous tasks to help you forget the linearity(?) of the gameplay. A few minigames/alternative routes would have helped greatly here. The puzzles found are usually very innovativa and use the DS hardware very effectively - but because of the limited interactions - nothing will give you too much of a headache. (Remember trying to navigate L-space in discworld, or the infinite combination of items in Grim Fandango) AC doesn't have the diversity of objects and puzzles that you find in classic PC point-and-clicks. It is enjoyable - but much like reading a book - you are moving throught he tasks to hear the story.

Lifespan - I have been playing for 3.5 hours so far and am on Chapter 5 so I am thinking it may also be quite short.

Conclusion - A nice attempt at a much neglected genre - however it does have some major flaws to prevent it being all engrossing. Good for a laugh and an interesting story but don't expect to be buying a Grim Fandango here!

the monkey's opinion 7/10 - Get it on 10 day rental from GAME

Well as I am a bit of a freak for exploring everything I check out every little detail and still; finished arounf the 5 hour mark. The ending was fairly weak compared to the build up...If I play again will I find out about D? I mean why the shoes etc etc for the ending that we got? It was fun whilst it lasted but ultimately a fairly hollow experience - plus I never got to use the stamps!

Has anyone played the new Advance Wars DS demo? I hope to god that the whole game is not like that -= otherwise it is seriously shit. I did not enjoy the Demo AT ALL... The realtime element is badly done and I can't seem to change units mid battle!
