Google to save planet

www.google.org

Quote:
We hope that someday this institution will eclipse Google itself in overall world impact by ambitiously applying innovation and significant resources to the largest of the world’s problems

Of course, at the moment its just a small charity thing.

But google will unite the knowledge and ideas of the world for the common good. They will use their google base project combined with a sematic network research to create an intergrated hivemind for humanity. (not just computers)
They will extend and form the ulimate for of democracy for the planet that will eventualy overtake govements and bring and end too all the worlds problems. By enhanceing our exteligence. This will extend with their slow uptake of Nasa's base,to take over the earth, to form their moon base....
THEN they will rule the univers...err...I mean..err...

I mean..err...Google rule..not will rule..

*backs out the room slowly*

ps. if anyone from google reads this, email me. I got a plans for a very powerfull sematic/schematic database system.Sematic is only half of the potential. This is serious.

Google's just trying to get on our good side with all those free services they give us.

That's all part of their huge evil world-taking-over plan.

I say, Google is good. But monopoly is bad, so I hope they'll always have serious competitors.

The friend of your father is apperently reading the web, because loads of people have said that quote

Actualy, there was disputes over microsofts stuff from the start.
(ie, almost none of their windows OS was original...it wasnt mac either though...was Xerox or someone you wouldnt expect).

Monopolys are bad...but google transcends that.
Its not so much becomeing a monopoly as makeing complete markets obsolete....when a superb product is given away for free...how can you compete at all?

Google is still a very small company..but its very efficiant.
Scarly so.
Just 4000 employies in total worldwide.
4000! thats nothing!
The amount they put out compared to their size is staggering.
Its probably a combination of their "20%" rule, and their unique resource/code shareing system they have in the company.

I dont see google ever become like microsoft.

However, in many ways they could become worse. *if* they choose to become "evil".
They are driveing us towards an inevitable sigularity..a unity of people, knowledge and ideas on a global scale.

I absolutely look forward to this..I cant wait to ditch the "middle men" that are slowing this world down. I want direct access to the creative people, the developers, the inventors, the filmmakers.

However..the idea of one company, even google, as a hub for all knowledge and media is scary.
The potential for missuse is very high.

I dont think theres anything to worry about though.
Microsofts "evils" are not due to Bill Gates, but due to systemic problems in the companys large structure. Its structure encourages bad practices to rise to the surface.
Google, in its current form, shows no sign of this.

Microsoft is starting to suffer from being so big.
And the same could go for Sony too. Especialy with the hedious mess of CD protection-thats-praticaly-a-virus they invented recently.
When companys have their figures in too many pockets, bad things are encouraged to happen.

Google..dispite having their servaces so wide, only have their hands in one set of pockets: Advertising.

They are a company to praise and admire, and I honestly believe they will fundimentaly change this world.
But like all powerfull organisations, they need to be kept an eye on.

From where I standing the internet became a regular place for everyone, not just geeks. But maybe that's just how it's like here...

It's over 10 years now since the WWW was a place for geeks. Or perhaps exactly 10 years. It was around that time it started to emerge to the average Joe.

but the internet can be the middle men ^_^
Why have humans involved at all.

Humans create stuff.
Humans expirence said creations.

Everything in between can be done by non-humans
(till the software gets smart and makes its own union, at least...)
