The Random bits of Nintendo news thread...

The Revolutions virtual console service will support Sega Mega drive games.
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/697/697922p1.html

Zeldaon the DS is called "Phantom Hourglass", and will be Cell Shaded 3D, but overhead, and featureing touchscreen puzzles as well as traditional zelda gameing. (sounds like Another Code to me)

What on Earth is happening to the new Zelda game that was destined for the Cube? Has it shifted to being a launch title for the Revolution?

Its comeing out for the Cube still, but its forwards-compatible.

When run on the revolution, you will be able to use the revolutions unique features.

The games been delayed about 8 months so far, but thats still nothing compared to Ocarina

I think its more likely the same version will simply have more functions on the revolution.
Remember the Gameboy Zelda games that knew when they were in the GBA rather then GBC ?

Same thing is possible here, only it will activate controller-specific functions.

And talking of Twilight Princess;

HM - Like Revolution controller support?

EA - We will be utilising the Revolution hardware although not in a way many will expect.
So...not sword-fighting then?
Nintendo is being bizarely cryptic as normal.

Anyway read the interview, its got loads of nice stuff.

I'd like to point out that in the phantom hourglass you assume control of navi with the stylus and not link with the Dpad, if you watch the video and how navi moves
eg:
in the field where link is fighting enemies, navi does a big circle then link does the spin slash afterwards, also navi is always leading the way for link to follow the entire movie :P

might be context sensitive to the situation.
That said, it looks mostly navi, which is fine by me.

Allthough Id be interested to see how arrows work...

i highly doubt it considering how much this stylus control will change the game.. makes it pointless to offer the same old traditional control

and also, Aonuma said that twilight princess would be the last traditional control style zelda, and it was confirmed a long time ago that zelda DS would make complete use of the touch screen

Bought Phoenix Wright on friday - nothing revolutionary but it's quite good fun so far. Am also a bit tmepted to own Worms - but I know I'll be disappointed. Odama looks pretty cool but I hardly ever play my Cube now...

From what I seen of worms its looks like a waste.

Not bad as such, just nothing whatsoever new or different and it dosnt take advantage of the system in any real way.
(apperently you even have to aim missle strikes with the D-pad!)

I mean, if you were designing Worms for the DS wouldnt you make loads of new custom weapons? I mean, theres lots of possibilitys with the touchscreen.

Some Paper-Mario-like attacks even. (eg, Drawing around a worm really quickly, each circle does damage)
