I think it was supposed to be extreamly lame...

If your looking for a non-lame E3 spoof, "Decline of Videogameing" on newgrounds clearly took a lot of work to make.
Hmz..wonder if they got one for this year.
=======

Few bits and pieces;

Sqaureequix have confirmed Two major games in development, aiming for the launch of the Wii.

Time magazine played the latest build of "Zelda: Twilight princess", confirming that the sword, arrow, and fishing rod are all wii controller enabled.

Nintendo seems to have scored a bit;

Dragon Quest on the Wii will be ready for launch;
http://uk.revolution.ign.com/articles/705/705655p1.html

As well as Final Fantasy Crystal Cronicals which should be ready some time after;
http://uk.revolution.ign.com/articles/705/705658p1.html

(and almost certainly connects to the DS version also announced;
http://uk.ds.ign.com/articles/705/705651p1.html)

Good to see Nintendo getting such big brands on their system so quickly.

oh, and some screens and details of some other games...

Sony conferance on:
http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/705/705742p1.html

Summery so far:

*Sony say they dont go into "Gimmicks" (wonder who that was directed at..)

*PSP to get "greatest hits" select, as well as a few new games announced (Ape Academy 2, Planet PSP (Interactive travel guide), Killzone: Liberation, B-Boy (Hip-Hop dancing), LocoRoco, Gangs of London, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror (already out), World Tour Soccer 2)

*PS3 is wonderfull
*PS3 will change the world.
*PS3 supports true HD, unlike our compeditors.

*PS3 to come with Hard Drive

*Backwards compatibility with previous playstation systems confirmed.

*worldwide launch in November 2005.

*Polyphony Digital shows a concept of there new game "Gran Turismo HD" for the PS3.
Apperently it uses GT4 assets rendered at 1080p. The game looks and plays like GT4, only in hidef.

(*edit* if HD is such a big deal, why isnt PC game sales better? )

*More GT stuff (no mention of a true GT5 yet)

*Eye toy battle/card game thing.

* E-distribution of some PS1 games is going to work on the PSP. (eg, pay a fee, download a PS1 game to run on the go). Nice idea, actualy.

* Seems sony, like their compeditors, has fully embraced online distribution. PS3 also has a online price/download inferstructure. As well as working with the Sony i-tunes revel.

New info;

*PS3 will cost $499 or more, depending on size of HD ($499 = 20gig). Only...the $499 may be crippled in other ways;
http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/705/705887p1.html
Come on? At that price they got to be jokeing!

*The bomberang controller has been scraped.
The new PS3 controller will look like a dual shock and have tilt sensors in it. I wonder where they got that idea from
Fuckers.

Tilt sensors have appeared in controllers before, but only one axis.
(eg, stearing wheels, for one)

3-axis senseing hasnt been done at all to my knowledge, let alone senseing depth/position.
Theres quite a big difference between mere tilt senseing, and Nintendos pointing device.

eg. You cant "aim" at stuff with a tilt sensor.

Whats even more amazing is at the conferance they called the DS3 a ""a fantastic innovation"
I mean for fucks sake...who are they kidding O_o

Seriously. Someone should shut the company down for plagiarism. ALL Nintendos paranoia came true. This is just too insane.

Well, the thing is, the DS3 can only do a small sub-set of the Wii's abilitys.
But it cause's a big problem for Nintendo as many people might not "get" the difference without expirenceing it.
Its not the easiest thing to demo in a shop really.

Incidently, the REALLY funny thing is the Dual Shock 3 dosnt have a rumble feature at all

Ell ~ The $500 version dosnt include half the features. (no support for SD cards, memory sticks or Compact flash...no HiDef digital out,and not even any wireless support)

So, the correct term is
"*yawn*

pfff $600"

Go Sony!

(Just because they get no love here)

Good to see that the Formula One game will get a US release, since I've been dying to see more screens and info, and didn't expect it at E3.

(*Wow, that last one looked almost photorealistic )

Best,

They get no love as long as they keep being so arrogant.

And, talking of which;

In all seriousness, I have to say the price is a bit shocking, and I think it isn't a wise move. Most casual gamers, and even hardcore gamers will be in a bit of sticker shock to pay $599 for a game console. I know I wouldn't (won't).

Quote:

I haven't read this anywhere, the only difference I've seen is the 20 GB and 60 GB hard-drive. Where did you find this?

Edit: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/705/705887p1.html

The only thing I'm concerned about is the functionality. I'd most certainly get the 20 GB system if for nothing else than the price alone, but since I'm reading many of the games reduce load time by utilizing the HD, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better in the long run to get the 60 GB or whether the 20 would be fine?

And now, after reading this thread, I'm wondering what to think of the 20 gig system as far as features. Granted, with the built in hard drive it isn't so necessary to have all the other media capabilities, but I'm not sure of the effect with regards to wifi support. I wasn't planning on using these features anyways (at least in passing) and so I'm disappointed by this, but not totally shaken. However, its obvious Sony isn't learning from the Microsoft Core mistakes. Whatever the case may be, in my opinion, the price is too high, and will most certainly drive casual users to the X-Box 360. I have a feeling that Sony will inevitably regret such a high price, and will need to have even a modest drop at some point after launch.

No it doesn't make MS look good.

iirc Nintendo was aiming below the 200 line

For less than 200 euro I want to be able to play SMB3, SMW, SMK on my Wii

you will be able to play them.

The question is how much for each.
$1 for Nes $5 for Snes and $10 for N64 seems to be the prices that a few sites are saying, but it stills speculation, imo.

We will know more in...well...2 hours or so.
====

Double J ~ If you must get a PS3 I think the advice is simple
a) Dont buy at launch. I really dont think Sony can keep that price for long...maybe 3-6 months then it will drop. At lot.
b) Wait to see if the cheaper version of the console is upgradeable (like the Xbox360 is). If its upgradeable, get it.
If its not, I would advise getting the 60gig full featured console.

No doubt the launch is now out of the question, and I agree with you, I think Sony will HAVE to drop the price significantly since a.) customers, even casual gamers, aren't stupid enough to buy an inferior, non-upgradeble console (which the Core 360 was not - it didn't come with the features but you could add it on later) b.) Microsoft will drop the price of the 360 by at least $50 USD at the PS3 launch and c.) No one should pay $600 for a game console, plus another $60 for games. Just totally unrealistic and unacceptable, and Sony should fire their marketing strategists if they approved such a retarded move.

It does however make the $200 Wii look more appealing than ever, and it make turn out to be my launch console. I was planning on getting it anyways, but now with Sony busying playing with themselves, I may be tempted to drop the $200 and try the nunchucks.

BTW - DF, do you have a link for a full Wii preview as far as features and such go?

what we know so far is;
a) The main controller can sense depth, position it is pointing at on screen, relative angles in all 3 axis. (and relative movement up/down as well..maybe absolute..not quite clear).

b) The nun-chucks have just the 3-axis sensors and accelerometers...so it can tell *how* its moveing, but it dosnt know where it is, or what its pointing at.

Aside from the downloadable games, and a few launch annoucements (Dragon Quest being the recent supprise)...not much else is known.

Stay tuned to
www.ign.com
or, live feed (which probably wont work);
http://www.gametrailers.com/e32k6.php?filter=wiipress

In about 2 hours Nintendos conferance starts, there will be A LOT more details revealed then.

I'm planning on being glued to G4TV tonight (and the next two nights as well) since they are showing daily reviews of E3 from 6-9 PM EST. I highly recommend it, I watched last year and it was great.

DF - Thanks for the info.
