oh, what a supprise, apperently developers only got hold of Sonys tilt-sensor controller *in the last week*
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=64446

(the people who made the demo shown at the Sony conferance..also, its worth point out the Wii can do everything that DS3 can do without the sensor bar as well...only it needs it for absolute positioning on screen..something the DS3 dosnt do at all)

Well, from what I understand, Sony has been developing the motion sensor for some time, but wonder whether they were going to implement it had they not lost the rumble lawsuit?

Besides, I wouldn't worry too much about them copying Nintendo, since its obvious that the PS3 controller isn't meant to do what the Wii is.

Actually, I've been thinking...hell, if people were willing to pay $3000 for X-Box 360 on Ebay, why not take a hit and buy a PS3 at launch and make a huge profit at online auction with which you could buy another one...

The graphics on PS3 are swanky and all - but really it's not much of a difference to X-Box etc... (have been perusing Eurogamer) IMO High-def gamers play PCs instead of consoles! The tilt sensor is as much of a quick cash in as MSs Remote Control peripheral. Ah well - at these prices people can hopefully aford to own a Wii and something else

PS3 is graphically more powerfull than the xbox360, but ofcourse the visual result might not differ much, specially not in the first year.

The conference just finished. WOW! This console is probably the greatest thing that has happened since 3D.

It wont differ at all.
Developers cant afford it.

If it wasnt in development for sometime, they would have got it ages ago.

They probably only started looking at it
a) When everyone hated the bomberang
b) When Nintendo looked like they may be onto something.

Exactly, I think its really cheeky makeing a "HD version" of GT4

==============

Anyway.
Nintendo just had there conferance and WOW.
Lots of cool stuff.
Mostly new games shown for the first time, but also it completely showed how the controller was used on every one.

Zelda TP is looking stunning on the Wii (theres two versions Wii / Cube).

Countless other games and info was showen but the main ones:

1. Revolution controller has a built in speaker.
eg. If your playing a gungame, you hear gunshots comeing from the controller, not the TV.
If your drawing an arrow in zelda it sounds like the arrow flys from the remote to th tv.
Very simple idea, but could be very effective.

2. Revolution is designed to be "always online". Even on standby.
Thanks to its completely solid-state design it can be left downloading content for games, or other stuff, or recieveing messages....and it will just be using the same power as a lightbulb.
(its also got Opera web-browser apperently)

3. Super Mario Galaxy shown. Looks very pretty...3D, spacy, but at the same time a bit more oldschool in its movements. Looks a bit hardcore almost. (like the "secret of" levels in sunshine).

4. Starfox DS. Diddy Kong Raceing DS. Yoshis Island 2 DS.

5. Red steal has destructable landscape, includeing softbody deformations.

6. Exclusive Sonic game. 3D, but looks liner.

7.arg..free...anyone interested should just download it and watch the games being played. You get a far better idea that way.

The big disspointment was no news on virtual-console priceing

Damn Nintendo for making 2 different Zelda versions. First they're all about "no Zelda will be on gamecube!!!" and then they go and make a Wii version? Is that why I've been waiting for half a year, so they could port it to their new system? Blaaaaah

Why are you complaining?
Its the same game...I just guess they wanted more space for the revolution specific stuff.

The half a year wait is the same reason every zelda game 'cept Wind Waker has been delayed *to make it better*.
That probably includes Wii stuff, but also gameplay tweaks, graphical improvements ect ect.

you fool, the new controls are totally better than a gamecube controller - I wouldn't buy it to play on a gamecube now that the wii is coming

Omg, Diddy Kong Racing and Yoshi's Island. I hope they keep the DKR music. This is making me glad I chose the DS over the PSP.

Another Wario Ware might seem silly but I'm excited. I hope they put in some fun multiplayer stuff. I've been kinda out of gaming for a little while, but Nintendo's weirdness is winning me back.

On a side note (that has the potential to turn into a huge tangent): G4's E3 coverage has sucked balls imo, they spend most of the time talking about what's coming up and then show 30 seconds of actual E3 info. I miss TechTV so bad. =( Adam and Morgan are like, the only two still on there. After devouring TechTV, cancelling every show but 1-2, turning TSS into "Attack of the Show" and putting all their stupid repetitive programs on, they seem to have finally realised that they can't make an entire network about videogames. But instead of going back to the ways of TechTV, they've decided to add programs that don't even make any sense. Cheaters? It's not about cheat codes. I miss Leo... and Patrick... and everbody. Hell, I even miss Martin Sargent. This has got to be the nerdiest moment of my life.

Wario Ware will rock.
They should have more 3D minigames this time though.
(ie, brief burst of an N64 game ect)

Ok new stuff.

Nintendo has announced a "shell" for the controller that makes it more like a gun;

Controller just slides in the front.
Apperently its built with "Duck Hunt" in mind.
=========

Also, Mario Galaxy looks amazingly cool;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8TwAyIdKI0

Probably the best looking Wii title as well, as far as graphics go.

New Gamecube games;

Super Paper Mario
(I really didnt see this comeing O_o)

Bongo Blast:

Another new Gamecube Bongo game.
Dosnt look much graphicaly, but its made by the team that did "Donkey Kong Jungle Beat" which was fantastic.

It may seem bizare using bongos for non-music games.
But Jungle Beat showed it worked great for platformers. (hard to believe, but trust me here).

Super Monkey Ball Adventure (Another Gamecube one);

Fear not Monkey Fans!
Its still the classic controlls you all love, and its developed by Travelers Tails..so it cant possibly be bad

Lego Star Wars 2 ( Gamecube, PC, Xbox, PS2)

This will be a fantastic game.
Trust me.
Anyone that didnt play the previous one missed out big time.

This time its focused on the original trillogy, with both custom mission and custom charecters possible.
(Chewvader..stormbaca..C3Oda....any charecter combo you want you can make )

Zelda (Nintendo Wii version)

Quote:
Remember playing Majora's Mask back on the N64? Despite the novel three-day setup, some players found that it felt a bit too similar to The Ocarina of Time and thus simply wasn't as exciting and fresh. I have a feeling Twilight Princess might have turned out the same way. It's a gorgeous game filled with great puzzles and characters -- and apparently it's a longer and more involved quest than any Zelda game before it -- but it's firmly rooted in the TOoT-style of gameplay. Well, not anymore. The changes the control setup in the Wii version adds to the game profoundly impact the game's feel. Fishing feels new. Blocking feels new. Shooting arrows feels new. Even the spin attack has a new twist to it. So even though you may encounter a familiar looking puzzle, the new control dynamics give everything a fresh coat of paint. Yes, you can get excited now.
Quote:
The combination of the controller rumble, the audio feedback from the built-in controller speaker and the motion controls create something really special here
~http://uk.revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707152p1.html

Videos;
http://uk.media.revolution.ign.com/m...89/vids_1.html

Lets hope this game lives up to the hype.
Its clearly the most important adventure game to come in a long time.
Lets hope it sets the benchmark for others to follow, as Ocarina did before it.

yup...Spore is one of those games that really screams "nextgen" to me.
Nothing to do with graphics...its just such a fundimentaly different in all sorts of ways.
The movement of custom-created creatures is particularly advanced.

I guess theres going to be a lot of LBA-type creatures being made from these forums

spore doesn't scream "nextgen" to me. "nextgen" is an awefull buzzword

I see the success of spore as an important factor for more "original" games with a larger budget
