I disagree to an extent. Sony has already started digging itself a bit of a hole by a.) releasing two versions of the console, and the cheaper version is nonupgradeble and b.) their price is turning away even solid Sony supporters (like myself) from a launch until a price drop.

The excitement raised by Nintendo at E3 is buzzing, look at all the online polls...by far the Wii has stirred the most interest. While I was planning on the PS3 being my launch console, Nintendo has again made me realize the error of my ways and turned the Wii (just like the GameCube) into my next-gen launch console.

Until Sony drops that price, or makes the cheaper version more upgradeble, I won't buy the console. And I'll wait a bit, like I did with the PS2...which I didn't get until 2003. Besides, Nintendo looks to be getting developers of sports games back, which is a big reason why I got the PS2 in the first place - the GameCube didn't have quality sports titles, and the controller imho wasn't very well suited for sports games.

Basically, and I happen to agree, you could get the X-Box 360 premium AND a Wii and be relatively equal in price to one PS3 premium.

That's just silly. Even Peter Moore came out and said that many gamers will probably end up buying the 360 and the Wii, which seems more likely than ever with the price.

Also, another factor that may put PS3 buyers off;

First generation sony hardware is almost always unreliable and prone to breaking.

Imo, leave the expensive first-wave suckers to find all the errors, then by the time it drops down in price, the hardware will almost certainly have internal revisions makeing it better build quality.

http://e3.nintendo.com/e3media/podca...a_briefing.m4v
(300MB!!!!!...but worth it if you havnt seen it. Lots of crazy stuff and game footage)

If your asked for a username and password its;
g o l i n
h a r r i s

spaced out to stop web searchings picking this up

Never quite understood what the deal is with the password being usable at E3 events to access Nintendos sites.
Its apperently a PR firm.

Some screens from the Witcher, I know I'm probably the only person eagerly awaiting this game in here, but what the hell, maybe I'll convert someone
(Their from the E3).
I'm also quite eager at the upcoming Titan Quest, the screens look awesome.

You know it's about the fun, not originality. It looks nice and fun, and if it will run fine it's going to be a nice game - and that's all that matters doesen't it ? To have fun while playing it, and not to run to the nearest store every five minutes cause your machine can't handle something. Simplicity with reasonable graphical effects, fun, good quests and plot lines, gameplay and stability it's all I need, for now. I like it !

And that orc hitting the wall! that's classic !

Looked like it was taken from a scene in South Park

Anyway, that FMV doesn't really tell me much about the game...and it's not really impressive as a piece of CG animation either.

I'm hoping that Witcher, on the other hand, will turn out good. Looks like an antagonist's hack-and-slasher fest, but if the story is good (and by that I mean on par with that of Dreamfall), then I will most likely get it.

The story? Hmmm, I can tell you a bit about the story of the books.
The Withers are "pro monster slayers", the main charachter Geralt is a Witcher. When a child he was mutated in the so called "trials" that mutated his body and were supposed to take away all emotions, but becouse of the fact that Witchers were slaughtered by an angry mob, led by a racist wizard, the witchers that were left couldn't do it properly so he's emotions didn't left him, but he somehow hid them during training. He roams the world and earns a living by killing monsters, but in his travels he discovers that many times the mosnters are not supernatural creatures, but humans themselves, who aren't native in the world of the books, but came into it during a "sphere conjunction" and dominated it very quickly and subdued the native races. It's a dark fantasy, the war is a war there, people die, people get robbed, raped. There is no clear distinction between good or evil, the world is just grey. Sadly it's been translated to like 15 languages, but not english, mainly becouse of it's slavic/etnic charachter. A first tome of stories from the late 80's should be avaialbe in English soon. If the game is anything like the books, it should be very good.

About the Warhammer game, you know I agree the FMV dosen't tell much about the game, but there are also screens there . It looks a bit like WoW, so it should be cool - I hope so.

More IGN info on the Wii:

Wii's Wireless Innovations
The first console to standardize Bluetooth; new partnership announced.

May 16, 2006 - Wireless solution provider Broadcom today announced a partnership to supply Nintendo's Wii console with the Bluetooth technology that enables the peripherals to interact with the system. According to an official release, Wii will be the first videogame console in history to use Bluetooth as the standard.

The platform's Wii-motes use Bluetooth to eliminate the need for wires. Broadcom's Bluetooth technology provides a dramatic increase in performance and reliability, as well as low latency, which in laymen's terms means perfect accuracy and response time.

In addition, Broadcom will supply Nintendo's Wii console with a single-chip, 54g Wi-Fi solution, enabling wireless connectivity for online multiplayer games and an interrupted connection to Nintendo's always-on network. Wii will further utilize Broadcom's BroadRange tech, enabling higher data rates even when players are farther away from the console.

"Broadcom's ability to supply and support custom features for both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi has enables us to provide our customers with a unique gaming experience powered by high-performance, field-proven wireless solutions," said Genyo Takeda, general manager of Nintendo's Integrated Research and Development division.
And...hands on with the Wiimote:

So uhm... what does bluetooth mean for this console? I mean, we already knew that the controllers are wireless. Are they gonna be MORE wireless (not connected at all)? Or is this just a specification of how they are wireless?

Just a spec really.
Wavebirds use bluetooth, but they arnt advertised as such because it dosnt make a difference.

Having a console that, internaly, supports bluetooth and wi-fi standards though makes it thoerticaly compatible with any bluetooth device given the right software.
Its unlikely to be used really though.

Dang. I was hoping it didn't have any wires AT ALL. Maybe a little much to hope for right now

btw, to to visit Zeldalegends.com. They have scans of the newest EGM, which features new screenshots of the twilight realm, which looks a millon times cooler now (from those two low res screen there were). And yes, the lava does indeed look as good or better than in RE4, which is great 'cause the lava in RE4 was amazing. Did any of you try to be dragged into the lava pits in RE4 by an El Gigante you had thrown in? Best death ever.
