I named the 5 games to own the system for. 5 utterly fantasic games, which imho, beat the crap out of whats currently on the Ps360.
Sure, its only 5. But quality is rare on all formats.

Certainly to my tastes anyway. Theres plenty of good games on all formats. But truely great? truely upto "best game in X genre" standards?
MGS4 might fall somewhere in 'best sneak em-up', but thats not really to my tastes. And I cant think of another 4 anyway.
(And, to be sure, theres plenty of good Wii games not to my tastes...PES is reportedly best on the Wii, for instance, but I cant stand football games.).

Theres plenty of "ok" games on the Wii as well, but as far as cream of the crop goes, those 5 set a nice high bar. (as far as 'ok' goes, Id rate stuff like Secret Rings, Harry Potter 5, Mercury Meltdown, Excitabike, Fire Emblem, and yes, Smash Bros and Mario Kart are also ok games.)

Oh, and why should we care two sods who Nintendo is marketing too?
They make great games, and thats all that matters.
Nintendo having more money from more people just means they dont have to rush out their main franchise's like they did with the cube.

The best saleing console having the most rubbish happens every generation.
90% of the PS2 games were shit. The same happened with the DS. And the same is happening with the Wii.

It dosnt matter that 3rd partys slap "casual" onto the front. Shit is shit, and they make it anyway.Its just rebranded shit.

Too bad that the only point in owning the console is to play those 5 games. The rest of the time, it collects dust.

And Nintendo could control the shovelware if they wanted to, but they don't give a shit.

In case you didn't notice, they already did. Within the first year and a half of the consoles life they've already put out their main franchises. Talk about premature ejaculation...

Only because the games like Mario Galaxy and Zelda were in development since *last* gen.
Both are clearly far,far less rushed then their cube entries.
Twlight Princess...like Ocarina...was delayed many times. The Wind Waker met its target release date.
Its quite clear Sunshine and Wind Waker use quite a few cheap tricks to make the games longer. Lots of fetch quests, put simply.
Galaxy and Twilight Princess have more "individual area scripts/programing" needed.
Plus, in TP's case anyway, they already had the engine made.
When you have money, you can keep developing till games are ready. In the cubes life, they wanted Zelda and Mario to try to up the relatively poor sales.
===
Nintendo conferance;

*Stupid happy people marketing video crap.
*Some girl talking about snowboarding...balance board blah Id guess.
*Some "dude" talking about snowboarding.
*Actualy someone to do with games (Nintendo president) talking now....
*...about long-saleing games (Nintendogs, Mario Kart DS and Brain Training ect)
*...small budget games with 'great ideas' and some hilleriously bad marketing slides.
*...more people buy games systems for themselfs now then as gifts.
*...Destroying physcological barrier between games and non-gamers.
*yawn*
* Any change people can get used too/bored with, unless you find more ways for players to be engaged, enriched, and more marketing words.
* (also slight,subtle knock to people copying them)
* Talking about consumers becomeing creators. (actualy, thats something I agree with)
* Mario and Zelda teams working on stuff. (not shown, just mentioned).
* Clips Of "Animal Crossing" designer talking.
* "Animal Crossing Wii" Announced. (2008)
+ Sandbox style/free to do what you like.
+ Game world works independant of you.
+ New "City" feature/area.
+ You can wear masks that look like your Mii's.
+ Send letters/pictures to other towns, or wii message board, or computers.
+ WiiSpeak Microphone...on tv O_o
+ (looks like it clips onto or replaces sensor bar)
+ Graphicals, it looks like a stylused cube game. Not that great, but I do love the 'cylinder-world style'
* And now its the Reginator guy....
* ...Nintendo is pleased, but "not satisified".
* ...Marketing stats. 70 million DS. 100million expected by years end. 12% more sales then last year.
* ...Veteran gamers hungry.
* ...more marketing, queue chessy photos.
* ...Nintendo having to ballance new gamers (Sports,Fit) and vetran gamers.(Galaxy,Corruption).
* ..."look 3rd partys sale well, come release more on our system". basicaly.
* ...zelda hint I think ("freshen up legendary IP")
* ...no time to show everything, just showing 3 new games.
* Star Wars: Clone Wars.
+ Lightsaber duals. (I cant tell if its gesture based or 1:1)
* Rayman crap. Really, why bother.
* Call of Duty something. Not my thing, but apperently one of them was good on the Wii.

Video stuttered and jumped.

* More marketing.

Video Stuttered.

* Spore on the DS.
+Stylus based creature design.
+Share your creation like PC version. (but not with it).

* New Grand Theft Auto on DS O_o
+ Same gameplay, new engine and charecters.

* Use the DS as an information terminal in airports O_o
* Local Area information.
* Baseball information in seatle stadiums.
* DS cooking thingy.
* DS transforming itself into a "companion" device.

* About Wiimotion Plus.
+ More precise, responsive.
+ Senseing each slight shift of arm.

* Some WiiSports sequal.
+ 1:1 movement demoed.(some lame disc-throwing thing)
+ Other guy dissing game.
+ Wave racer minigame thingy. (do they ever change the racing sound effects )
+ Sword fighting game. (part of a 3 in one pack). Looks a bit like Wii boxing, only swordfighting. Dosnt look that good, allthough it does show the motion i guess.

* Wiimotion represents a bigger opertunity then this.
* WiiMusic.
* Miyamoto playing flute or something.
* Some other guy with stupid hairstyle.
+ Everyone can enjoy music, ect ect.
+ Not based on precise button timeing like most games.
+ Sounds pretty dumb actualy. Like miming music. It does the notes for you, you only determain timing. and volume.
+ Some profesional playing drums. His name is Robby Drummer? Really? Do we believe that?
+ Use balance board for peddle controll if you wish.
+ Make music videos
+ Playing mario tune. Nice galaxy-quality background. Dosnt fit the Mii charecters style. Style mismatch? Nintendo? seriously,thats sloopy.

* Regie dude back
* Use WiiSpeak to talk worldwide.
* Games can engage us.
* "Nintendo brings smiles" (and grimaces from people that hate these horrible marketing expression).
* DS, and Wii proved not to be a fad.
* Imitation always around corner.
* blah blah.
* summery.
* fadeout.

So, overall.
Marketing crap. A few random things. Interesting DS announcments.
But still bugger all news on what half their teams are upto
I expected at least Retro Studio's project to be revealed in some form.
And seriously Nintendo, a sequal to Wii sports was "duh", but that better not be the complete package.

I like Clone Wars, if that stays exclusive I'll pick it up.

Edit: I see motion control won't be 1:1. Jesus Christ, someone wake them the fuck up.

I think Animal Crossing Wii was a pretty predictable announcement. IMO, Nintendo needs to come up with a completely new IPO. Something that doesn't have to do with Mario, Zelda, Metroid or Pikmin. While those IPOs have all been very successful, they are all getting pretty stale by now. That is, it's hard to introduce entirely new gameplay to a Metroid, Zelda or Pikmin game (Mario may be the exception to this, but that is also the company's oldest IPO). Because of this, there are very few surprises in their lineup, and the entire production seems a bit... lackluster, despite the quality of the games.

I really think that its time for Nintendo to come up with an entirely new cast of characters, a new story, and a new game. They have a tremendous amount of creative talent in their offices, so I do not think that it would be all that difficult. Of course, I do not mean to imply that they should abandon their current properties, I just think that its time for expansion.

I'd just be happy if they could get some third-parties to release games that aren't crappy ports or shovelware. Their first party IP's are still good enough to carry them.

BTW - Wiispeak should be fun, nothing like having your entire house heard while playing. How long before 12-year-olds hear someone having sex over the mic? :P

Another Ninty add on to milk the customer out of $20+ and sell another software demo devoid of depth. Gotta love that.

They must have found that drummer on the street and paid him in sandwiches. Jesus Christ.

And when Miyamoto said "herro" I nearly fell off my chair in laughter.

Wow.

That was a clusterfuck of unprecedented performances...maybe they should have practiced before demoing that? Hell, they could have dubbed it over and played it with a backing track to make it sound semi-believable.

Hooray for Nintendo for yet again snuffing the hardcore gamer and appealing to soccer moms! I can't wait to shell out $40 on a stupid speaker and Wiimote attachment! Yay!

Also, I know it wasn't, but that asshole on the snowboard game looked like Carrot Top. Jesus Christ.

No one is making you buy the attachments.
I personaly wont buy them untill something I want use's them.

And I seriously dought they will be $40.
The mic will come bundled with Animal Crossing, for one.

As far as most peoples diffinitions of 1:1 goes, it was.
That is exactly what people mean when they want 1:1 games.

Short of having triangulating becons all over your room, theres no way the wiimote will actualy know its exact position outside the tv, so when most people say 1:1 they mean the charecters "item" moves to reflect the angle your holding the wiimote.
Thats exactly what they showed.

That said, the demo showing it needed to be a lot better.
Seriously, bundeing it with a game, and saleing it seperate is perfect and a fair way to spread a technological upgrade.
But it needs to be a DECENT game. This is not. I mean, come on. A full wave-racer, and a full, new IP sword-fighting game would work...but this? No.

Unless...
..Its excusable if the price of this is low.
Like WiiPlay was, effectively, just $5 more then a Wiimote.
WiiPlay was worth that $5, but it wouldnt be worth a full price.
This is the same.

Also, can you combine your posts a bit? Getting messy.

Not that I like the franchise much anyway.

GTA DS was actually the only thing slightly interesting. Maybe Call of Duty if it goes online and stuff but knowing Nintendo with it's friendcodes faggotry it probably will suck.

Well, there was a few other things "interesting", if not really good for gamers.
Having DS's used as information points, for instance.

But not a particularly good showing for gamers indeed.

To be honest, I should have suspected as much.
Nintendo's famously always tight-lipped untill at least half way into development on anything, and the Zelda/Mario/Metroid teams havnt really had long enough to get that far on whatever projects they got.

I would have thought though Nintendo would have had some sense for at least a teaser or something, seeing as 3rd partys arnt really helping the Wii at all.

The only interesting game for hardcore gamers at E3 for Wii seems to be that "Conduit" FPS game.

Getting FF was in and of itself a huge victory for Microsoft...that alone makes E3 for them a huge success.
