Ideas for things to do..

It striked me recently, that while we have a lovely site here, and some great fan-projects going, theres a lot more simple tasks we can do to make this a resource for LBA fans.

Heres a few ideas;

1. Get the LittleBigAdventure.com homepage done.

2.A map of the world with different layers and links to information. (on twinsunica?)

3. "What to do after finishing the game" section. This should include challenges, with appropriate save-games attached to start from. Later this could include mods and special made challenge levels based around the (excellent) Architect software in development.

Ideas so far:
** Play the Lupin Island Destiny Demo
** Logon to LBANet
** Watch the Swede
** Challenges (later we can put this in order with save games and perhaps difficulty ratings)
-----Try to do the Wizard challenge, finishing with your parade tunic (easy, long)
-----Try to get the Pisto lazer of Zarnon on Twinsun and complete the game (easy, long)
-----Try to get to the Island across the Hacienda without a protopack or Dyno-fly (medium, short)
-----Contribute to the Statue Challenge: try to get into the statue when it is not triggered yet (unconfirmed, hard, medium length)
-----Contribute to the No-Weapons-Challenge: if you succesfully proved the Statue challenge, complete the game without weapons (unconfirmed, hard, long)
__________________

4. "Behind the scenes". We should collect all the videos, documents and articals we can about the development of LBA in one place.

* http://video.google.nl/videoplay?doc...1521837055521#

5. "How to get the game running in..." Boring, but it should be helpfull to gather in one place tutorials for getting the game running in various OS's.
We need to keep LBA games accessible and playable, so this information needs to be easy to find. Preferably from the new LittleBigAdventure.com homepage.
Id suggest two dropdown menus, the first for LBA1/2 and then for OS.
It could then display an appropriate tutorial for that combination.
Virtual Machines, FF patchs, etc.

6. Perhaps a page detailing other games like? Dark Earth, BG&E etc. With details as to how they are like/dislike LBA.
After all, we are all adventure game fans here. Nothing wrong with some cross-fertilisation.

7. LBA Random facts and interesting info - A page detailing random ...err facts and info about the game?

Ideas so far;

*Voiceactors ( Jodie Forrest etc) appearing in other games (BG&E)
*

..anything else?

Basically, Ive been thinking we need to make the MBN more usefull beyond just a forum. I think idea number 3 could be particularly usefull/fun.

I think the map is particularly a great idea, though I see it has not been progressing for quite a while. I would gladly help in that, though about graphics I do not know much. I am more of a tech guy

Also an official challenges area is also a very nice idea. I myself had pretty much fun to do the Wizard challenge for instance, after I found out the No weapons challenge was impossible. And then I noticed a very specific challenge, namely the Statue challenge, which *might* suggest the No weapons challenge could work in some way. A place where these could be explained, and more of them being added, a place where you can discuss about it, good idea. There could be great ideas in them, maybe a No RedBall challenge lol.

Indeed, there's quite a lot of possibility's with the challenges.
Id suggest perhaps have them categorised by rough length (ie, from "whole game" down to a short 5-minute section), as well as difficulty.
--
As for the map, I'm a bit of a tech guy too.
I can supply a google-mapish way to navigate a map if that's desired, for instance.

Hmm, I love something ordered.

I am the sort of programmer who could do magic, if I only had the complete sourcecode of something. Like how I now have the complete sourcecode of the Java library, now I can make all sorts of cool stuff with the language I am pretty useless if it comes to creating or manipulating graphics though. Paint is my mate, but nothing more could come out of it.

Some say I am actually gifted in making 3-dimensional visualisations from programmatical environments. Really helps me actually understanding a program.

Edit:
I would love to use this for helping others, that's what I mean.

Maybe pages about Soul Bubbles or Time Commando (I never knew what that game was about, so an introduction would be nice)

For example, I never knew that Philippe Vachey worked on Alone in the Dark with Frederick Raynal. Just something that shows what other games the LBA team worked on would be great like you mentioned.

LBA 1 Twinsen/Zoe/Joe or LBA 2 Twinsen/Zoe/Joe because I am of the belief that they were very different voice actors/actresses - at least in the English version, Wouldn't really know about the rest of them...

I remember the map project when I discovered it (like 3-4 years ago), I'm a photoshop user, and I'll be glad to help

Ive started to fill in some ideas at the top.
Please everyone, contribute

It would be lovely at the end of all this we get an LittleBigAdventure.com homepage giving fans of LBA a hub of information and other things for them to do.

I might have some in-game challenges for LBA2 that could be listed as after a finish of the game:

**Try to do the Wizard challenge, finishing with your parade tunic (easy, long)
**Try to get the Pisto lazer of Zarnon on Twinsun and complete the game (easy, long)
**Try to get to the Island across the Hacienda without a protopack or Dyno-fly (medium, short)
**Contribute to the Statue Challenge: try to get into the statue when it is not triggered yet (unconfirmed, hard, medium length)
**Contribute to the No-Weapons-Challenge: if you succesfully proved the Statue challenge, complete the game without weapons (unconfirmed, hard, long)

Great list Darkflame. For section 3, there's already a few mod maps by Inventor to play that last about 5 minutes each, which sounds ideal for what you're suggesting. And there's absolutely loads of challenges I can think of, some long and some short. We could even provide savegames to get people to the challenge area faster.

Yes, I forgot to mention the use of (existing) bugs.
However the JSB does not make it easy to get there Don't forget that it is a long way, and you'll end up probably in heaven untill you reach the distance. You'll need to figure out how to get there not falling dead.

It is, completed it! Took me a while to do it right.
Cannot prove though lol, would spoil it.

Edit:
Even after you complete this challenge, you'll end up stuck on the island ofcource, or take the same difficult way back, or discard the progress.

Absolutely on both counts!
Can you provide links to the mods?

For the challenges, I think we need a way to form an organise list.
I thought of using;

http://moderator.appspot.com/#15/e=bfe52&t=c2564

Which lets us vote (and thus let people contribute there own challanges and the most popular go on top).
I think its embeddable in a site, but havnt tried yet.

However, perhaps there's a better alternative? (so we could order by rating, hardness or length?)

If google moderator is embeddable it would be an asset. However I think it should also not be difficult to create a simple chart system of ourselves.

I would suggest a sortable list, allowing sorting on at least (some of):
-Name (with account to "Challenge" prefix if applyable)
-Starter of Challenge
-Best practicer
-Votes
-Toughness
-Length

Its fairly trival to make a sortable spreadsheet thing, but to get user access and store it all in a database I don't have time to make, so hopefully there's a pre-existing system.

Unfortunately, I would have had something usefull if I hadn't gone into game development a year ago. In fact, I was developing just the thing.
I'll be looking into other sollutions now.
