Video's about special effects from the guy responsible for visuals in the Blade Runner, Close Encounters and a lot more films.

Cool stuff. I always love seeing how effects are done (both high and low budget techiques)
---

Anyway, seems a "season" of online shows has ended and another one started.

The last ever Legion of Niel came out today, a special long eppisode. Havn't got around to watching it yet. The Guild season 4 meanwhile ended two weeks ago. - brillent stuff, although not quite as funny as season 3.

That said, theres a few new things.
AskANinja is finally back with a new format - traditional Q&A once a week, but also other things on other days.

Theres a Halloween Special of Monsters Anominious - It can be a little hit or miss, but it normally gets a few snigger's from me. I like the Being-human-esq setup.

Meanwhile http://www.mercuryseries.com/ IS STILL NOT OUT YET.
Darn-it.

Its probably going to be underwealming now, but I really want to see it. I dig retro-sci-fi big time.

On a more serious sci-fi side, also still waiting for updates at;
http://vodo.net/pioneerone
They exceeded their total and are apparently filming a few episodes now.

yup, not long now...
--

Legend of Niel final - Pretty good stuff. Nice to see a webshow so successfull and get a good ending. Its funny to see "high-tech-low-tech" effects on this episode, like when it pans out to show the whole dungeon. Probably money from Comady-Central helped with some of this stuff.

Cataclysmo and the Time Boys - With a title like that you know you got quality....
Seriously though, after the first few episodes I really started enjoying it especially when Spoiler:
HGWells showed up
. Much like the Adam-west batman, its so ridiculous its fun to watch.
I'll probably watch the sequal sometime too.

Cataclysmo and the Battle For Earth
Reviewed By Darkflame (Type - webseries, CreatedBy - nobody)

While I didn't find this quite so out right funny as the previous Catacylsmo series, I did enjoy its rather "kitchen sink" approach to storytelling. It has comedy, drama, and so many cliches chucked at you in some ways it becomes non-cliche in doing it.
In fact, I think its worthy of quite praise how they can tonely shift from things very, very silly to quite serious scenes for their characters. The acting is also great all-around, possible improved from the first series too.My only real critism is I wished it tied together more neatly, it felt a bit too made up as it went, especiallyregarding some motivations and actions tieing back to the first season. Timey-wimey stuff is fun, but needs to be planned nicely for greatest effect.

Both seasons can be seen here;http://www.webserials.com/cataclysmo/

VampireZombieWerewolf -

Starts a little slow, but quickly becomes a very professional funny and fresh webseries.

I thought the concept was going to be like Being Human at first...a group of monsters in a flat share. That concept was already parodied by Monsters Anominius and I wasnt keen on another one.

Fortunately I was completely wrong...the concept is much more unique and yet at the same time I am surprised no one else thought of it. Style wise the thing is also pretty interesting; its like an oldschool sitcom in what it homages (Bewitched etc), but very self-referential and modern too.
Very worth watching!

Suburban Knights part1;
http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/vid...knights-part-1

Great stuff. Epicly stupid, but with some quite witty lines - seems even more over the top then last years, with what seems like a "higher budget".
Very recomended, allthough probably about 50% of the gags are referances to thatguy.coms various reviewers shows.

One rather funny channel I bumbed into last month:
http://www.youtube.com/user/StupidOldManMedia

Some slow pasted and absurd.
And other clips for a more broader audience.

And another from down under:
http://www.youtube.com/user/thejuicemedia

They already have some internet fame for their nifty "rap news" clips.

.....and The Guild is back

http://www.watchtheguild.com/

Between writting and staring in this, Falicity Day has also written and stared in a Dragon Age webseries O_o (Dragon Age™: Redemption) as well as now being a character on Eureka (for which she has been rather type-cast).
How she get the time?

The Guild (s5e1-11) - This season has been brillent Clearly there budget has gone up based on the much larger sets, more cast, and some more elborate effects in that last epp.
Very good to see webshows getting closer to mainstream tv in terms of what they can do.

I also note theres been a lot of guest stars this season. Sort of like in an early simpsons way. I'm in two minds about this, as normaly relaying on guest stars is a very bad thing, often they feel forced and are a cheap way to get more viewers.
On the other hand, in this setting (a ComicCon clone) it does make sense, and they arnt advertising the fact they have X/Y/Z showing up. So its more a cool supprise. They just gota be carefull not to overdo it.

DragonAge: Redemption - ah, the other show written/staring Falicity Day online at the moment. Havnt watched it as I have little interest in the game, might try it later.

Bumpty Bump.

More new free online stuff:

New online Sci-Fi:

http://vo.do/l5
(havnt watched any yet)

New Guild Music Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFhgu...layer_embedded
Fun, but not as fun as their previous "GameON" one.

New Channel organized by Felicia Day with a verity of new shows:

http://geekandsundry.com/

Haven't tried them all yet.
Mostly short-form blog/review style stuff, but they also have collaborated with Dark Horse to release motioncomics. (never keen on them myself, but people looking for more story-based stuff might prefer them).

I did see Days "Flog". Simply but quite funny.

Still, I do wish there was more online drama's. The casual/funny/review stuff is very well catered too.

To Boldly Flee - part 1

http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/vid...ly-flee-part-1

The 4th Anniversary film from the thatguy team.
First they did a smash-bros style battle with the angry video game nerd, then they invaded a (real) tiny country, and last time they did a fantasy adventure spoof.
This time its sci-fi being parodied, and so far its great. utterly stupid, but they make good use of the large cast and the story seems to have enough elements to keep it interesting.
Again, fans of any of the various webshows that collaborate to make these things would get more out of it.

===

Fresh Hell -
http://www.dragontape.com/#!/5396044

Webseries following Brent Spinner (star treks data) after his carrier takes a nosedive after a "incident". Essentially a comedy about a out of work actor desperate for a job.

I recently found out Stan Lee has his own youtube channel where he rants about various things and also interviews people. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6f5h...DB1786F4B226)
I always was a fan of his work , but had no idea how funny the guy is. He could easily be a standup comic.
I hope I am this active at his age!

David Mitchal Soapbox:

http://www.youtube.com/user/davidmitchellsoapbox

Really funny short rants on various subjects, he always makes good points but sounds more and more like the most neurotic person on the planet
Theres 4 seasons now. Very recomended.

(hmm...supposed to be a new season of peep show soon too..)
