Michel Ancel rumoured to be leaving Ubisoft

This is still a rumor but a interesting one:

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/201...y_with_ubisoft

Michel Ancel, creator of Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil, recently protested against Ubisoft over the delay of the WiiU game "Rayman Legends".

The game was delayed just a few weeks from release, after the developers had been working non-stop overtime to get it finished. The delay wasn't trivial either - half a year.

I think it takes a rather special kind of relationship to get your own staff to protest your choices.

Of course, best-case scenario is we get Fred and Ancel teaming up with their own company.
Worse case is Ancel has to now take the path Fred has, working his way up from small scale facebook games.

a lot of game developers are getting a bit too high and mighty or just plain incopitent these days. I need not remind people the issues bethsia faced to get dawngaurd and hearthfire on the ps3 and the last of information given until they confirmed 8 months later their release after xbox got it.

The Ubisoft case shows, however, that the actual developers arnt the ones choosing when to release stuff.
