New Gameboy Advanced

Whoa...me starting a Nintendo related topic...what a supprise?

Anyway, Nintendo have finaly come clean and have showen us the GBA:SP.
Its the exact same as a normal GBA, same spec, same games ect.
But it has too important improvements:

1. Flip-up, Backlit screen.
2. Built in rechargeable Lithem battary. (mobile phone style).

This means you can have the light on constantly, and it will play for 10 hours.
Or 18 if you leave the light off.

Heres the pictures:

Im not planning to get one myself, as I never found the screen a problem to start with.
But if theres a big enough discount for regarly GBA owners, I might get it.
===
For those that dont own a GBA, there is now no excuse.
Theres plenty of must have games on it (GoldenSun, Advance Wars, Exe vs Sever 1 & 2,Sonic Advanced,Metroid Fussion to name a few)
Its fairly cheap, and its not going to be replaced for ages.
Theres also loads of class games comming for it:

Elite 4,
Wing Commandor,
Super Monkey Ball Jr,
Golden Sun 2,
Sim City 2000,
Advanced Wars 2,
Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire,
Final Fantasys,
Secret Of Mana,
Super Mario Advance 4 (which I think must be a new game...unless they convert that N64 2D yoshi one....)

There, and the vaste majoirty arnt Snes conversions

*throws a large rock towards DF's head*

Well, I also heard that the new GBA might have a larger memmort capasity, which would kinda suck if you were a 1337 fan of Nintendo, getting the first GBA, and discovering later you might not be able to play all games on it....

No, its 100% identical as far as specs.
It dosnt take special carts or such. (not even slightly better carts, like they had when the SNES Supergameboy came out).
---
Theres lots of false rumours about this machine at the moment.
But Nintendo have made clear its not a new machine, and it supports all the old ad ons (Ecard reader, GBA linkup, ect).

I believe in Europe it will cost around €129, which isn't very much I think. It's not very useful for me as I'm nearly never waiting (travelling by train for example), but if I would, I'd certainly consider buying one.

it fits into a pocket better than the last one. this is 3"x3"x1"

well, i think the depth is 1"

so yes, it does fit into a pocket. if the last one can, this one definately can, except in smaller pockets now!

Yes, I agre with Mr.Cyberg. If it feels good and is fairly priced, I shall go for it. But it looks like one of those 1980 C4 bombs.

This is basicaly for all those people that found the GBA hard to see.
I never had that problem, but im in the minoritory with that.
Nintendo have always said that a back-lit light would make the battery life way to short.
So they have waited till they could develop a cheap enough lithem battary to use.

Sounds good. They should include a GBA trade in opportunity however. I cant afford to buy another one and spend £100 :/

Hmm... I gues this GBA holds just as the classic GB, but I think the placement of the L and R buttons aren't too well placed, when I imagine to hold this. I never much liked L and R buttons at the top of a joypad anyway, like most consoles (only the trigger-types are nice, like on the Xbox, don't know about GCA).

Please dont say "like the Xbox", Nintendo invented them and Sega made them cooler.
Microsoft just copyed them.

Whats wrong with L&R buttons

Yes, the placing does look bad, but you really cant judge till you hold these things.
The screen at an angle is brillent though, much more ergonomical. (less neck strain).

I don't really like it .
It's ugly IMO and I liked the shape of the GBA better.
This is just an (even more ) portable GBA.

The Xbox is the only console where I saw it, I never holded a N64/GC/DC controller (or I don't remember them having comfortable L&R buttons).

Nothing except for the placement. I prefer having all fingers under the pad instead of the having index fingers at the top.

I was talking about triggers.
N64 was the first with a single digital trigger under, gun-like.
Dreamcast refined this idea by far making two of them, both analog.
The Gamecube has something in between triggers and L&R. It has 2 large analog buttons just under where you normal have L&R. When you press them far enough they click, so they are sort of both digital and analog at the same time.

Whoa man, i never knew there where so many fans of the gba here. When I bought mine everyone said I was crazy to buy such a childish toy. But I'm glad I bought it, cuz now i'm the only one who's doing something cool during our spare time in school.

By the way that new one looks cool, but I doubt if it is a good shape too hold(I don't know any other way to say this, but I think you get what I mean.

It looks un-ergonomical yes.
But IGN seems to think its comfortable:

http://pocket.ign.com/articles/382/382062p1.html

They are normaly quite reliable.
