The Gamecube has something in between triggers and L&R. It has 2 large analog buttons just under where you normal have L&R. When you press them far enough they click, so they are sort of both digital and analog at the same time.
I thought the triggers functioned as L&R buttons.

Triggers are buttons in an err..."trigger" position

Yer, the GBA is cool.
Most people who say its childish are the same people who would spend £300 getting the latest mobile phone just to play the games on it.

Yeah, I have had a Nokia3310 for 2 years now, and it does me fine. It texts and phones people. And supports custom ringtones, so I like it

Umm, if he was older than you it would have made more sense for him to have seen it and not you... not the other way around. after all it's not a recent show!

/me won't buy the new GBA, simply because I have better things to spend my money on, then replacing my "old" GBA. I'm actually pissed in a way, kinda like the X-Box owners will be next year when the X-Box2 comes out...I mean, would it have killed Nintendo to backlight the damn thing a year ago? Before everyone bought it? Ah what the hell, it probably was marketing strategy.

I don't know if some one mentioned it already, but I think they're way off with the headphones, I use my headphones all the time, even when I use my adaptor, so that would mean I have to turn the volume down I f i don't want to irritate people.

err..its got a headphone socket, you simple cant charge AND use headphones at the same time.
18 hours between charging...I really dont think theres any problem there.
==
Double-J - When the GBA first came out lithem battary packs where much more expensive, it would have doubled the cost of the console.
They could have made it backlit without the lithem battary, but that would have quatered the battary life.
They really did have to wait till this time for it too be possible.
-
And why should you be pissed?
If your happy with the existing GBA, this wont do anything to harm it. The games are the same. (unlike the Xbox2 games...)

and it's only a teeny 3 hours to charge it up

even with the light on your gameplay % out of charging+gameplay is 77%

that's quite good.

you only have to charge 23% of the time. which actually isn't very long.

with the light off your gameplay is 86% and charge time is 14%

10 hours of play with a light, 18 without, always 3 hours recharge (overnight, or when at school)

and no batteries to worry about!
i don't see why people would charge the game and use headphones?
it 'does' have its own speaker remember

I just don't like the fact that if I wanna get backlighting now I either have to a.) buy the new GBA or b.) void my warrenty, open the GBA case, and install the Afterburner backlight kit.

And that is different too before this was released...how?
At least now you have the option to buy the new one.
--
If you want to get an afterburner, you can send of and they will install it for you, its quite cheap.
However,id advice agaist it, unless you got a fetish for playing in the dark, the reduced battary life isn't worth it.

what is wrong with 10 hours?

you won't play it for 10 hours during a day

play it, and every night you play it, put it on charge.. simple

It still sux0rs, I mean come on, if they did something like this for the GCN and added a HD, which you had to buy with the new model only (not sold separately), even if the old one still plays the new games...wouldn't you be upset?

bad example...

memory cards aren't that expensive cheap and you can get 8MB ones which is a lot...

so the GC with the HDD doesn't matter
by the way, they ALREADY did something like that(creating the new model i mean)

you could have used the example of Panasonic Q

they allowed it to play dvd movies, where as the gc can't
you didn't see a whole load of people sell their gamecube there and get the Q...

a dvd player cn be found in many places.
a baclkight can only be achieved in 2 ways
and who the hell plays the gba 10 hours a day?
and you sleep for MORE than 3 hours people...
you're at school form MORE than 3 hours people

remember, it's not 10 solid hours of gameplay

you can get more
you can toggle the light on or off...
if you need it, use it. and if you don't. like DF claims to never need it. then turn it of..
but if you were playing at night with no lights on i would suggest you use it DF.

So except shape and light, there's no difference with the GBA? Than it doesn't matter to me. I don't think I would have liked the new shape and I never had troubles with the light. So if the games are the same, it's allright with me. I would have killed some Nintendo-people if I couldn't play Golden Sun 2 on GBA.

Cool! Don't think I need one though....the Li Battery is an excellent idea though...now all we need are some kickass games to come out...roll on Golden Sun 2 .

PS. I'm not sure I like the new style. Looks like it was made to appeal to mobile phone users and not gamers. The pad and buttons look a little cramped together.
