OMG, that's like the weirdest list I've ever seen...
Super Mario Bros. as the best game ever?

I've seen some dumb lists in my time, but that one was truly the worst one I've ever seen, no MI, no GF, no LBA and Tetris at number 4??

Tetris is actually one of the most addictive games ever, you can play it for hours, and after that, you still play it in your mind (seriously! ).

But yes- Grim Fandango and LBA aren't there .

Tertris is bloodly good, and, more importantly "genra creating".
But 4th? nah...
--
Odd list the last lot.
Ocarina of time should be first in my view....but why isnt wind waker there???!!!
They have the SNES zelda, after all, so they do do more then one game per series...
Wind Waker might not be as good as OoT but it comes preety dam close!

Im glade an Xcom game is there, thats good

As for Mario..hmz...it did define a genra...not sure about #1 though.
Even discounting LBA (duh), there are other "important" games that would fit better there.
(what about the first Zelda, for one thing....or Elite...)
==
Bushmeister ~ Did you read Wackos list??? that was far worse.
Doom at number2!
No Alone in the Dark, it was all "popular" games.
The IGN list at least has a sense of "history".

Another game that's not there for some reason- The Sims.

Maybe because it is both over-rated and overmarketed.

Yes, the constant barrage of Sim add-ons is just unforgivable, but where is Grim Fandango?

Pah! GF deserves to be in any Top 100, but where are the great point and clicks? MI2? DOTT?

no, I meant, that some P&C deserve to be there, I didnt mean that GF didnt.

If you look at the chart they seem to have tried to be fair genra-wise.
Im sure if they went by there own review scores, the top 3 slots would be held by the Zelda games
But they have looked at stuff like "importance", and the effect on other games ect ect.

Here is a list from the biggest Swedish gaming magazine:
1. Super Mario 64
2. Zelda: A Link to the past
3. Super Mario World
4. Final Fantasy VI
5. Halo
6. Super Metroid
7. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
8. Half-Life
9. Starcraft
10. Tetris
11. Metal Gear Solid II
12. Civilization II
13. Castlevania: Symphony of the night
14. Gran Turismo 3
15. Final Fantasy IX
16. Steet Fighter II Turbo
17. Sega Rally
18. Metroid Prime
19. Sonic the Hedgehog II
20. Planescape Torment
21. Virtua Fighter 2
22. Super Mario Kart
23. Baldurs Gate II
24. Virtua Tennis
25. Ico
Further down (games commented here):
29. GTA Vice City
33. The Secret of Monkey Island
45. Grim Fandango
56. Golden Eye
69. The Sims
89. Neverwinter Nights
100. Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball
(no LBA or Outcast, apperently, but they are more consoleoriented)

If I was to pick a few games as the best ever I would picK (not in some kind of rating order):
Super Mario 3 and World, the 2D-Zeldas, Outcast, LBA, NHL 95/98/99, Age of Empires 2, Age of Mythology, 2D-Mario Karts, Mr. Gimmick. Just outside the list I have Need for Speed and FIFA RTWC 98 / World Cup 2002. They, especially FIFA has got big lacks, but the content makes up for it in some way. I havent played the 3D Zeldas more than like 5 minutes, so I cant rate them.

Btw, the #100 game at the list was a little irony from my side.

Yoshi's island has a higher position than super mario world, that's just not possible.

Yoshi's Island, was the sequel to Super Mario World, and while YI was good, I still think that Super Mario World is probably the best 2D platformer ever (or SMB3 - I really liked that too).
