E3/F4 Toys News (dont get your hopes up...)

Because theres almost no information
Heres the response I got from my contact whos just got back:

Quote:
Hi Thomas

How are you?

Sorry for the delay in responding, I only got back from the US on Monday.

OK - I went to F4-Toys section in the Kentia Hall (6904) - Basically, it was
a private (closed in) meeting room, so I knocked on the door and I entered
it....

They had a big display of some videogame character and a monitor displaying
a game. Two guys were sat down one was Fredric Raynal and the other guy was
Alexis Galley (I knew because I quickly read their badges). I was greeted by
Alexis, who asked what I wanted (quite abruptly if the truth be known)...

I explained that I had come to look at game by Fredric Raynal
and I'd like to take a few photographs of it if possible. Alexis then asked
"Who are you?" I explained that I had visited this stand on behalf of the
LBA forum who were huge fans of Fredric Raynal, and represented 100+ fans of
him and his work.

I was then told by Alexis that I couldn't take any photos or look at the game as they would only talk to publishers. I then said that I am from a publisher and gave him my card - again, he said that I still couldn't take any photographs and I said "Well OK, I'm sorry to bother you..." then as I left he handed me his business card and said if "they" wanted any information, they must contact him directly.

The details on the business
card were:

Alexis Galley
Chief Executive Officer
(his email)

Tel: +33 (0)********** (phone number censored )
Fax: +33 (0) **********

F4-Toys
6, rue Lincoln
75008 Paris
France

I'm sorry that I didn't get anymore info - I DID try really hard and was
100% polite through out. (I know what it is like to be a fan of someone's
work and to be hunting for snippets of info)

Please let me know if you get anywhere with these details :-)

Take care

George Bray
Project Manager

well i assume they want to keep it secret in case everything changes, or it never ends up coming out, or cos it's very incomplete, or something. but our li'l community needs some material to keep it going, cos we're going to be his main community even when his new game comes out, probably.

(el, after trium planeta comes out, will this board become a fred raynal fansite as opposed to just an lba one? ^_^ )

Pah, dang secrecy, almost as bad as the "done when it's done" reply to release date inquiries.

ok, just try not to pester them
(I choose to not censor the address because, unlike emails, letters are unlikely to get irratating no matter now many people send them).
---
I hate the secrey too, but they have there reasons I suppose.
Hopefully its kind of
"We have a super-cool idea not copywrited yet"
securacy, and not
"we are not sure how much of this will make it into the finaly game" securacy.

If they don't have a publisher for their game they want to keep their trade secrets as much a secret as possible. Because these things are stolen you know. Before you know it Publisher X releases a game almost just like it. If they had a publisher they could protect the game (e.g. their investment)

With all this confidentiality, it makes you wonder what they were even doing there...

I mean, why were they even there, if they didn't show anything to anyone?

err...yes...the developers are the people with the Stands and such, which is what everyone else is looking at.
They are effectly "advertisers".

Maybe they got rich by selling T-shirts

I've seen lots of people with those shirts, I even spoke to a guy once that didn't know what his T-shirt was about.

Infogrames bought the name and rights for Atari a while ago from some other publisher I think. Atari was only an empty shell at that moment.
