Mobile gaming sucks imo.
If you want to game somewhere, bring your gameboy, phones are for calling people.

How did I know without looking that DF would be the thread starter for this one :-) Very amusing web site. Definitive proof that the N-Gage is yet another half-baked cock up for the plebians of mobile gaming! Bow down to the mastery of GBA (esp. when it comes in a lovely Psudo-Famicom version)

Nintendo runs some kind of competition about those ones because of Famicom's 20 year birthday.

Yes. NGAGE sucks. To change games, one must practically take the phone apart. Each game retails at about £29.99... you can buy a GBA game for that ammount. Secondly, the NGAGE, (or at least when I played it) has horrible FPS. Its really edgy and just a bitch to play. There is a fine line between a phone and a games console. I mean, okay, a game like Snake is fine for a phone, I'll admit I've played it when I was bored. However, making games which require you to pay for them, for a mobile, which is shit, is a joke.
GBA is a much better alternative. Only £60, and worth every penny.

Indeed.
But theres other alternaitives to the N-gage as well.
GP32 for instance.
Or the Zodiac.

None of them have a phone built in, but you can buy a phone seperately.
Its better to have two devices that work well then one combined one that does neither task very well.

No no no, N-Gage is great.
Why are you all focusing on the games?
It's a radio, and an mp3 player too, also can be used for emails.
it's not just about games, it's just a really good cell-phone,
with lots of nice features. And it's expensive, but so is everything good, so don't 'victomize' this product!

I wanted a N-Gage, but it was to expensive, so I've bought the nokia 3300, it's like the N-Gage without the games...

You have to hold the phone sideways to make a freaking call, and the battary life is awfull.

If you want all those media-thingys, get them seperately, it works out cheaper and they work better in dedicated devices.

(oh, and even my cheap old Sony cmdJ5 can do emails...emails are like, standard on most phones)
===
Overall The chips in the device are ok, but the design is absolutely awfull..its like they had no user testing whatsoever.

It's a simple fact of life, Nokia are uselesss and their phones are average at best. So N-Gage has a Radio and MP3 player built in.... great, for half the price I can get a nice Sony Ericsson phone and an mp3 that's 2x as good! And still have money left over for a GBA and a game! As for style.......I rest my case

lol I rest my case. €300 is fucking crazy. I wouldn't spend more than £60 on a mobile phone. I got my Nokia 6610 free on upgrade, replacing my 3 year old 3310. This phone will last me abother 3 years probably, before I will need a new one. (Unless it gets mashed up )

Best phones are actually the older ones, Nokia 5110 was one of the best phones. It never crashed and had excellant battery life. It didnt have all these cruddy games and such which slow a phone down. Only problem was it was big and weighed a bit.

New phones are becomming mini-media centres. If you you want a mobile, buy an older phone. If you want a media device, buy a friggin tablet PC.

I swear, lol, why not make phones that wash dishes and fold clothes while they're at it. Now THAT would be useful

*agrees 100%*

The fact is that mobile phone makers have to keep adding gimicks, because as soon as they stop half of them will go bankrupt.

(think about it...how often do you change your landline phone?)

It's the price for a good mobile phone...And there is a lot more expensive than it...
I buy it because I take the bus and the train everyday, and I can listen my music with it.I have it around my neck, and it's very useful.

Edit : It's the price when you buy it without a rental, but with a rental, it's cheaper.
