Neat Website Thread.

We have had these before, but i think its time for another
List cool websites you are visting lots of at the moment!

Sites i am visting:

www.newgrounds.com ~ Funny flash animations and games. (also an extensive audio portal).

(warning: Dodgy adverts and pop-ups)

www.the-underdogs.org ~ Huge selection of old game reviews and information, large collection of freeware game downloads.
Used to be illegal to mention on this site as they marked "LBA" as abandoneware, and let you download it.
However, they have cleaned up their act since then and instead give surgestions as to where you might buy it.

You can also get Fredric Raynals neat 3D dos platform game:
http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=41

Worth looking at underdogs, at the very least look up LBA and give it full marks or a comment

http://news.google.co.uk/ ~ Not exactly found this site, but i only just realised how brillent it is.
If your interested in whats happening in the world, this is possible the best most unbias news source in existance.
Automaticaly created and updated from thousands of news sites around the world, you can instantly read the same story from many different points of view

http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/images.html ~ Latest images from mars, straight from the source. (normaly a few each day)
Amazing pictures, stupidly high resolution, and many can be viewed in 3D with glass's.
You can even view the raw source images to make sure nasa isnt cheating.

So, what sites are you all checking out regularly at the moment?

http://www.orkut.com -- new project from Google crew, based on social networking. You can have an extended personal profile, and link with friends. You can meet new people by friends from friends, or common interests. Pretty interesting, it's innovative even though websites tried this before. You can sign up only by invitation of existing members (hehe ^_^).

http://www.mobygames.com -- very extensive games database, it's like an IMDb for games. Great if you need to know practical information about a game or people who worked on it.

I used to check NewGrounds regularly when I was like 13 years old, back then it was only very violent and one of the few websites with a lot of flash movies.

A group of Futurama fans have taken it upon themselves to construct an internet version of the episode guides which accompany The Simpsons. The Pictures might be a tad garish but you have to acknowledge the effort and exceedingly good writing of these guides. Here's one for one of my favourite episodes:

Moby games, yes, I second that
Everyone go there now and vote high on LBA

That google network thing looks interesting, there was a chat client that had a simerlar idea...you could see a "diagram" view of your friends, your friends friends ect.
Only thing is it reportable didnt work too good.

All based on the "6 degrees of seperation principle", of course

http://slashdot.org - needless to say anything. Slashdot is slashdot. There isn't a single site related to technology that can get close to this.

http://osnews.com - news related to various OSs in general. Not everything is very good-quality, but good stuff shows up quite oftenly. One of the interesting features is the dedicated support to nearly every browser around (check the bottom).

http://www.elftor.com && http://www.squidi.net - a couple of webcomics that I read frequently.

http://sourceforge.net - the number 1 website for open-source project hosting.

http://www.indymedia.org - independent media center. Very partial, but obviously nice if you are partial aswell (in the case, leftist).

http://www.csszengarden.com - css portal.

Related to that is www.yourgoingtohell.com - seriously, this site is actually *incredible*, and as a side note, check out the midi files it uses (bottom of the source code for the main page)...a few strange choices to say the least.....

A few years ago, under the guise of protecting the population, Dr. FunFrock herded the planet's habitants into the southern hemisphere. The repression is harsh. Every day brings more and more arrests, and the people slowly begin to lose hope. In an effort to keep their spirits up, the people sometimes evoke an ancient legend along with the name of a goddess, Sendell. The mentioning of the legend or Sendell has since been forbidden by Dr. FunFrock. Meanwhile... a young quetch named Twinsen has been having strange dreams...
