Mostly retro games in the Xbox section, oddly.
Still, I think i seen that before, its amazing indeed.

As for Peter Molyneaux, im skeptical...he has done some amazing games, but he is now a tad famous for annouceing something 3 years early and then by the time the game is released the concept has been *hugely* scaled back and it dissapoints people. (dispite the fact the game is normaly good; people expect earth-shatteringly good like the early talk was)

Will Wright, on the other hand, produced a working version of "Spore" at the very first time it was mentioned to the public.

Still, looking forward to the Movies.
Quite interested on how some of the concept works on the Gamecube / other console versions.

Ah but this has been in dev since 1999 and Molyneaux has Populus and Black and White as a background which I give more credance than the Sims....but that's just me. The first time I read it my automatic thought was that it would be a disappointment - pushing tech much further than it is possible to do, or simply missing out on the fun element in favour of a concept....We'll see I guess.

On another note, Animal Crossing, I just started playing the GC version again and I was thinking, do you reckon you'll be able to link up with the DS version and send your town and character data across, that would be sooo cool if you could, otherwise the whole town layout will be different.

Back to the disscussion, Black and white was great but I wasn't too keen on Populus. And that game DF mentioned would that by any chance be Fable? As soon as I heard about that game I wanted it sooooo bad, 3 years later it comes out like nothing what I was expecting it to be, I read the preview again (from 3 years earlier) and some of the things that were in there were actually in the game. The game is still amazing to play. And the_angry, I enjoyed playing The Sims and Sim City and stuff they were good ideas at the time but are a bit boring now, and I think that Spore thing is gonna be gnarly.

The DS version is fully online...but I dought you could transfere old data...it would all be too different I think.
Maybe items though

Dispite not being a fan of the Sims, Will Wright has pushed the simulation genra in more ways then anyone else, he has done all the bits of "spore" already in a way, but now hes put them together into a smooth packaged single game.
I just tend to prefer developers that keep games as supprise's.

Well it's official DSLinkup was a very very very very very very very very SHIT hoax!!! I mean honestly, what was the point?

On a more promising note here is a really cool vid of a DS being linked to a PC...the quality isn't great but it opens up a whole new world of possibilities. From www.dsdev.org

Spong have suggested that a redesigned DS being announced soon...I know Spong aren't exactly reliable, but if this is true I will be very pissed off....In fact I may send my DS back for the dead pixels to get a shiny redesigned one!!!

Getting gameshares from a wi-fi card is a major achievement, that should spawn a hole set of more stuff.

eg, Online game demos to download?

Of course, theres still encription to be cracked for true wi-fi homebrew, but any existing wi-fi games should be able to have online downloads easily.

The code will be cracked at some point for true homebrew, no system yet has stoped anyone
(the DS has 512bit encription I think...but dosnt mater, as its seldom truely a mater of breaking stuff , its more often just getting around it).

Once true homebrew happens, it might be possible to switch from Ni-Fi to Wi-Fi by putting a program in the ram.

Its a lot of work and will take developments, but the fundimental PC>>DS has been sorted now so its all in theory possible.

Hopefully a workaround will be possible the suggestion is that DS uses 1048bit encryption which would be a bitch to crack!!!

On the other side however I believe that there are enough intelligent people working on this project to make a breakthrough....just wish I had these sort of skills really

Indeed.
1024, your right...but so far nothing has ever stoped these people
Brute force even 1024 is *just* possible, if a team of people (say, hundreds) left there pc on for while (say, months).

But its more likely to have some sneaky way around it.

In other news:

Sims 2 DS:

(Yes, I think its safe to say that someone at EAMaxis is a buffy fan..
that dosnt just look like willow, the name is the same as the actress's too)

Looks like they are makeing up for the crappy Sims1 GBA port.

Quote:
in The Sims 2 NDS, trading unique creations and head-to-head mini-games are the wireless focus of the The Sims 2 for the NDS. The user can create original artwork for the gallery and music
Quote:
IGN: Any potential of having online support in the Nintendo DS version?

EA Maxis: We are in discussions for this.
Quote:
IGN: Last year's The Urbz was essentially what we call a "GBA Plus" game: a GBA game ported and updated with touch screen function. Is this going to be the case with the sequel?

EA Maxis: Not in the slightest! The Sims 2 for the NDS is a totally unique experience incorporating Real-time 3D, the Real Time Clock, true Touch screen activities, and even use of the microphone!
Also a few websites have spotted this

Notice right at the top you can just about make out "XXX players online".
Apperently "Ultimate Card games" and "Ultimate Brain games" are going to be fully online.
Might not seem much to get excited about, but the GBA versions got extreamly good reviews, and there was a lot packed into each game.

Picked up Zoo Keeper for £15 on eBay.

Bargain. One of the most maddeningly addictive puzzle games I've played. It works perfectly with the touchscreen.

Good stuff.

Yup, Zookeeper is great.
Its actualy a variation on a much older puzzle game, but it certainly works well with the touchscreen.
I might pick it up when i get bored of Polarium. (or i might try Metros)

I dont know if the picture is real or not, but I would actualy say its very likely Ninendo will release their own wi-fi cards.
Maybe with backwards-compatibility for tunneling. (if we are very very lucky)

OK, big DS news

1. GBA Movie Player is going to get an update: DS Movie player.
It will require the use of firmware cracking device (called a pass-me), but the benifits are huge.
It will be able to run fullscreen movies, use the touchscreen, and use all of the DS ram for emulators. (allready confirmed to work are NES,SNES,GameGear and Master System).
It certainly looks like a very attractive reason to get your DS firmware cracked
(especialy as its a once-only job, then you can pass the device to a friend).

The current GBAMP was just £13, hopefully this one will be the same.

2. Another major score for the homebrew front;
NDSWinS.

You do need a rather expensive GBAFlashcart for this (as well as a cracked firmware), but the features look really cool.

Quote:
Applications included in NDS WinS Demo:
----------------------------------------
WinS Paint – A basic Paint application
WinS BasiCalc – A basic Calculator - Added a divide button
Dominator – A WinS puzzle game – more info in the game
LoveCalc – Computes the love-rate of two names
Notepad – A basic Text editing program
TicTacToe – A Tic-Tac-Toe game
http://www.n-next.com/index.php?suba...t_from=&ucat=2&

Check out what they are working on!
It gets better and better

Ok, in less homebrew news:
Spliter Cell DS is finnished and entering cart production

DF: Try http://headkaze.webpal.info/

To get it to work I think you need a PCI card based on the ralink chipset http://ralink.rapla.net/

Some more info on firmware replacement http://ds.gcdev.com/dsfirmware/

http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.php?t=5840

Hope that helps - it all got away from me a bit cos I haven't been on the forum for a few weeks.

http://www.aaronrogers.com/nintendods/wifime.php

That seems to be a comprehensive guide. You download the new firmware to your gba cart then boot it using wifime. Once you've flashed the firmware a key combo means that you can use the GBA cart for any .gba or .ds games without the need for a passme or wifime - pretty cool
