Soul Calibur 2

Is it bad-ass or is it BAD-ass!?!?

I am amazed at how long one can play a one on one fighting game and not get tired of it. Simply amazing!

Haven't tried it...maybe I should rent it or something.
Last fighting game I played was Tekken 3.

I really like it! Link is cool
I completed it for 100% and it's just the best fighting game ever!

My favourites are Sueng Mina, Xianghua, Talim, Link, Ivy and Raphael.
The fighting styles are reallt nicely done, I watched Crouching Tiger last Friday and you could really see that Xianghua has the same style as the Chinese Warriors in Crouching Tiger.

also, 1 scene in crouching tiger was: 1 with a Zanbatou (sueng mina's weapon), 1 with a Chinese sword (Xianghua's weapon) and 1 with two thingies (Voldo's weapon)

I usually play as Talim, Kilik, or Xianghua.
Does anyone else think that it's too easy to just button-mash with Raphael?

Raphael can do some really cool stuff, and no I don't think he's lame-easy. I don't think any of them are...except maybe for the pirate felah. But overall, I think that SC is really balanced. You can kick arse with any character.

Talim is also my favorite. At first I didn't like her, but she turned out to have really awsome fighting techniques. Also, she's one of the few characters that actually nice. Everyone else is such a jerk :P

I hate Voldo for his homosexual looking moves and Ivy for appearing like a donimatrix.

My friend just bought it for his GC, so i might borrow it sometime.
(after completeing Mario Kart, and a few other games.)

Everyone says its like "THE best ever", so i suppose its good

Im really pleased i just got 60hz input working on my video capture card.
Meaning i can play loads of my cube games though my PC at
60hz PAL resolution. Eat that you NTSC yanks!

Allthough the first thing i played at 60hz PAL was Ocarina of Time So i kinda wasted it a bit.
(allthough the game looks kick-arse even today. Im sure they have uped the resolution and anti-anyelising)

Only thing that sucks at the moment is i have to play my games in a window. I have yet to find free video capture software that supports full screen.
(and pal 60)

Oh, forgot Yoshimitsu as one of my favs. He's so damn cool.
(I shall assist your suicide)

But it is true, if you are the first to hit, it can be pretty easy to win if you just keep hitting (long ranged weapons only help this)

There's a thing called block and kick under. Works wonderfully.

Yoshi's a very popular character amongst tekken players.
I can't stand him however

About SC2,
would you say it is one of them button smashing games?
(by button smashing i mean like DOA2 or something..)

It's button mashing at first. N00Bs sometimes stand a chance by button mashing with Raphael, but that's a pro O think...

Absolutely not. And I really mean that.

Soul Calibur is well known for its use of strategy. Button smashing against someone who knows his stuff just doesn't work. Its a waste of time, if you expect to play SC just for that. I've been up against button smashers before on that game and they all got their arses kicked. Just doesn't work with SC.

You can easily block or dodge reckless players. One thing I trully appreciate about guys at Namko (or whoever made the game) was how they made it so that you have to use your brains..

Unless its a button smasher vs another one :/

Ok, good.

Also, is the speed of the game extra fast?
by that i mean, are the movements of the characters realistic, or a little bit speed enhanced?

It varies, really. It also depends upon characters. Some are slower than others. But upon average, I would say the action is "believable." Meaning, movements flows, and you can't magically jump from one action to the next. Not unless its very short.

Why don't you go to some arcade and test it out. I'm sure SC2 could be found somewhere in arcades.
