Countering the Wizard Puzzle Bug...

Battler/Obrasilio says that if I have a specific European version file to replace my American LBA2, I can fix the bug where the puzzle with the wizards is alread completed.

Does anyone have that file from the European version?

No, it's not true. The bug is in all of the versions, but it happens randomly.

Wow. If it happens randomly, I must be really lucky, then. It's randomly happened to me EVERY single play through of my game. In fact, the very first time I ever played it was the only time I've been able to beat that puzzle.

Come on, now. I don't find it very easy to believe that this occurrence is random. If it happened every so often, yes. But this happens EVERY single time.

Try this file. It is the only one I can think of that can fix the problem. Maybe make a backup of your file SCENE.HQR first.

Yeah, what Blues said. The only time it didn't happen to me was when I loaded a saved game.

It never happened to me.
I wonder whether OBrasilo's LBA 2 Scene Manager can make out a difference between the European and the American version of SCENE.HQR. If this is the problem, then it should be able to.

Out of the dozens of playthroughs I've had, it probably happens about about 10% of the time.

The only buggy thing about the wizard puzzle I met, was the cutscene, getting stuck in between the female wizard walking over to me. Though that only happened at my newest pc, this may be a compatible hardware issue.

I guess your problem happens "randomly", maybe too at certain hardware configurations, but specifically always on those. I never had it

Now, who wants to be the first one to make a joke about not minding being stuck between the female wizard?

Oops, looks like it's me..

Ha ha. It's been so long since I've had to do this puzzle, I've forgotten the solution to it.

Same here, I also found it rather teasing that reset button is awfull close to the fourth slot, thus making me doing things over and over again..

It causes the game to skip the wizards puzzle at Dark Monk's statue in the end of the game. When you reach this place the cage is already open, and the wizards are nowhere in sight.

morshem means the bug fix causes this, the wizard bug itself is where the wizards get stuck walking into the wall in the cutscene and you can't continue the game.

LOL, I never had this bug until I got a new PC which required to use Funny Frog's patch. I used the patch, then the bug appeared. Also the car steering bug never was there until I used that patch.

Oh wait, so the wizards gone and the gate open at start is not the bug itself, but them getting stuck in the cutscene? Ok! Then I have had this bug too, when I used the patch. I got the female wizard getting stuck behind the other wizard. Reentering the room and restarting the game a few times sorted it out. So what is this patch involved?

- J_McKalling: The patch involved is the graphics patch. Apparently, it also does some other, un-intended, changes, screwing up the game a bit.
The bug Kitarii talks about, I don't know, how related it is. Maybe a different bug occurs, depending on the version of the game, that you have.
