Thumbs Up My new website: Holomap

https://sites.google.com/site/holomap/

That was fun to make .

This idea came to me when I saved all the images from the Twinsunica, and found all those images. I thought that these are unused gems, and that such a site would be a nice way to use them.

If it's not clear, you need to click on the appropriate places on the images to get to another room.
Images are taken from the Twinsunica, which used the images created by various people for the RMP. I'll give individual credits in the site soon. Background images are stolen from the LBA Hebrew site. If you feel I'm violating copyrights by that, let me know, and I'll remove the images.

Currently only LBA 1 is available. I still need to figure out how to do this for LBA 2, with all it's outside 3D scenes. Any ideas?

Have a safe journey!

This could be a simpler way of acheiving the goals of the LBA Google maps project. As well as the doorways, information on an object/character could be accessed by clicking on it/them. The implementation is rusty, IE some images stretch and one I looked at had multiple Twinsens in the picture, which is distracting. I believe you can export scenes as BMP files with LBArchitect, this might be a better option.

Do tell how I can help

Maybe you could use LBANet when creating the LBA2 maps. Just choose 'orthogonal' projection in the options, and it'll show the outside scenes the isometric way.

I like the concept of these maps. Though the navigating on a map is somewhat unpleasant. It would complicate matters just a bit if dragging were to be enabled to navigate a map, but it would definitly add to this site

Yeah, I agree. I've seen some very old dates in that thread.

My knowledge of site building is so poor, that you can't really expect anything advanced there .
This was just a small fun thing to make, without any professional purpose intended.

The multiple Twinsen images were really a little weird, since in most images he was deleted from the scene. I might try taking replacement screenshots myself if I have some time.

I see. Well the use of the Java "ScrollPane" is exactly what I mean. It is a Java control that automatically enables scrolling for you on an image, but you'd need to embed a Java applet to do this. You could also insert a premade Javascript for scrolling, but you'd need to know what you're after. Or you could just put the images in an HTML element that you specify with CSS to fit a certain size and show scrollbars. Lots of options, if you would be interested

I couldn't access to Polar island from Fortress island...
Why don't you add an image of the Holomap under the Twinsun menupoint ?
Enough criticism, I like it

That's right.. When I first loaded the map of Fortress Island, just briefly I saw the whole map without the fortress, and then it suddenly appeared. I thought, w00t, is this is layered image or something???
Then I figured there was another image below that loaded up faster, lol.

If you can in Google sites, you could simply put the images in iframes. Then you'll have scrollbars.

You're not a programmer, that's obvious.. Never give that advice to anyone, not even your obnoxious little brother

Iframes are deprecated, but you don't need an iframe for that. A simple container (such as a div) with overflow: auto is enough.

Actually, I am a programmer. I make my living off programming. You think wrapping it up in Java and using a scrollpane is a better solution?

My suggestion was based on that he's using Google Sites, which is a WYSIWYG style builder with templates. These things aren't setup for the average web programmer, I'd be surprised if it accepts custom CSS in the body "insert HTML", these kind of sites will put protection to ensure you don't go covering up their footers and such.

You can use HTML editing there as well (that's how I did the image maps). But that's more or less as far as my site building knowledge goes.

Nah. Would have if it were already in Java. Though discouraging your suggestion didn't mean my suggestion earlier was 'better'.
The best thing to do, assuming some CSS can be used, is what Renesans said, using overflow to set your own scrollbars.

Example:
Quote:
<div style="display:block; text-align:left; width:1024px; height:768px; overflow:auto">
<map ....>
<img src="LBA_map_of_Island_xxx.jpg" usemap="____" />
</div>

What's that supposed to mean
I'll have you know I've always been bad at maths. In class I always ran multiple chapters behind.
(and then still passing it with a C lol)

When speaking about math to people, two answers are possible :
"I've always been bad at math." x 4/5
"I've always been good at math, it's a shame I didn't study more seriously." x 1/5

C isn't that bad. My sister has so much difficulty with it, that maybe she will no longer have it as a subject.

Indeed, C isn't bad at all.
According to your two options, I belong to both. Because I've always been bad, never being able to compete with the rate of assignments. And I forgot to mention I never studied maths at home, so receiving a C is actually incredible.

Grrr, math...

I used to be good at it until I was like 13, but then I moved to Australia for 3 years, where the level is like a whole year behind the level in Israel. So by the time I was back in Israel, I was already way behind everyone. Eventually I did the final school exam in the lowest level possible, and since then I pretty much hate this subject.
