LBA 1 Star Wars commercial

What's up with the not-so-hidden advertisement in LBA 1 for Star Wars?
Quote:
I'm a huge STAR WARS™ fan. The saga's sequel should be released soon, so I already reserved my seat in the movie theater!
Did Adeline get paid for that? I really doubt they did, which makes it really weird that such a random quote was put in the game (i.e. a quote which has nothing to do with the plot of the game).

By the way, I don't remember this TM sign appearing in the game...

The TM sign is there. I think there was just a Star Wars fan in the crew who included that easter egg.

Like Renesans noted, the TM is definitely in there. I also think it was an easter egg. Keep in mind that Episode I (or whatever rumored titles, plots, etc.) had been speculated long before it finally came to fruition in 1999. In fact, most people expected a continuation of the OT, rather than the prequels (which I would've preferred, honestly, after seeing how the latter ultimately turned out).

I doubt Adeline had to pay Lucasfilms for such a small reference. I wonder if Lucasfilms even knew/knows about it?

They were just fans and wanted to include a referance I think.

Lucas was interviewed long before talking about a "Trillogy of Trillogys", so I think at that point people both expected sequals and prequals coming.

I guess it's just been too long since I played the game with English text, so I didn't remember it (in Hebrew we probably omitted it).

If anything, I'd expect Lucasfilms to pay Adeline for putting in this advertisement, and not vice versa.

Bah, it's just an homage.

And nah, no money should be involved. However it would've been nice if they placed a LBA characther mixed among so many alien races in any of the 3 prequels. But I don't blame Lucasarts, I doubt they knew about this.

@SpaceGuitarist, lol I read your signature briefly thinking it was part of your post.

"I am your father!" is actually a reference to specificly one of the Star Wars episodes, isn't it? Maybe not so intended haha.

I also think, in case this advertising had a heavier position in the game, that Lucasfilms would be the one paying the other. It's not like they don't want you to promote their trade They'd be happy to pay you if you referenced anything that is their property. But it simply isn't that important, you can finish LBA without ever seeing that quote because it's the only thing the grobo says.

Yeah, we all love SW.

@ Jack: yep, from Star Wars 5. Probably the most memorable moment from all SW series:

Darth Vader: There is no escape. Don't make me destroy you.
[pauses]
Darth Vader: Luke, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy.
Luke: I'll never join you!
Darth Vader: If you only knew the power of the Dark Side. Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.
Luke: He told me enough! He told me *you* killed him!
Darth Vader: No. *I* am your father.
Luke: No. No. That's not true. That's impossible!
Darth Vader: Search your feelings, you *know* it to be true!
Luke: [anguished] No! No!

I like it how in Monkey Island 2 they did an awesome parody of this scene, almost line-to-line .

Mastermovies (dutch) also did a parody, and it was wonderful

[Darth Vader cuts Luke's hand off]
Darth Vader: Hahahaha hahahaha hahaha hahahaha hahahaha ha... ha, yeah.
Alright, enough laughed, but, it was indeed funny right?
Luke: No, it really wasn't funny!
Darth Vader: Shut your mouth!
Luke: You ARE not funny!
Darth Vader: Oh yeah, and I'm not only a comedian, but I am also, ... your grandmother! Your grandmother indeed!
Luke: [anguished] No, no, that's not true, I don't have a GRANDMOTHER!!
Darth Vader: But it is still true you know.
[Luke jumps down]
Darth Vader: Yeah right, go jump down!
Luke: [falling] I hope that you burn in hell!!!

I never really decided what to believe as to why Darth Vader screamed "NOOOO" there.. Was it because he was very much alive again and didn't want to, or was it because his girlfriend hit the dust?

So Darth Vader never really fully became subject to the dark side.
He couldn't have cared for her. Or felt that Luke is his son, or that Luke has a sister, or to have overpowered senator Palpatine.

Hmm I mean pushed Darth Sidious into the pit to resque his son Luke.

All this makes me realize that I've never watched episodes 1-3. I really doubt if I should though, considering all the bad reviews they got.

Also, it's been too long since I last saw the other 3 films (about 4 years I think).

It's long not all too bad, the prequels. If you first watched 4-6 you'll actually like the first three, as suddenly you'll get to understand the plot behind it.

You will see long standing vilains grow up, older ones fall already, and witness the history behind everything, how everything came to be. I thought it was wonderfully done

Actually they broadcasted the whole series recently on some channel.

As for me, I would say that there's only one good star wars movie, The phantom menace. Nice plot, good actors, and good story, nothing is always perfect or too good. Not to mention the pod race or Darth Maul, but those are personal preferences . The second episode is uncredibly dull and boring, the third is too simplistic in it's way of describing the world, and Anakin is just a weird guy which you do not understand.
Seriously, can anyone explain in a few words why he turned to the dark side ?
(Meh, dark side-light side, like if the world and humans were that simple)

Meh I couldn't watch that ep this time, so I'm remembering from ages ago.
I believe Anakin has always been tempted to turn to the dark side. All since he left his home on Tatooine, he has been feeling fear for his mother. Fear turns to, (...) turns to the dark side, according to Yoda. He never actually controlled that fear I think, it just grew and turned to anger by the years. Do remember this was detected by the supreme court when child Anakin was brought forward to become the protege of the yedi.

The last moment before Darth Sidious killed Windu and turned Anakin into his apprentice, Anakin says "What have I done", which proves he wasn't fully devoted to the dark side. And when he finally gets suited up, he screams NOOOOOO at hearing he had killed Padme. So it's not really that black and white after all.
