That's awesome!
Zink, did you get to talk about technical details concerning the creation of LBA1&2? I'd be curious to know what he had to say. Does he know about the stuff you and alexfont made?

Lupin, yes, we have talked about these things (too many details to even remember ). For example Fred told us why the LBA1 has such horrible saving system. It's because it was first planned to be made for Nintendo SNES, which has a very restrictive save system, and it had to be this way. And then for the PC version they didn't want to change it (no time perhaps?).

He knows about the things we are making, but not all of them. He knows some programs and new engines being made (I've been appreciated: he said he often uses LBArchitect when he needs to see a location, because it's now the most convenient way to do it ), but he didn't know about the Prequel.

He also said we can ask him for source code fragments for LBA1 & 2, and he will ask Sebastien for it. That's because he doesn't want the code to be made public (even fragments), but he wants to help in our developments by send us code pieces we are interested in.

That's great!
Why didn't LBA1 make it to the SNES in the end?
That's amazing that he uses LBArchitect! Did he offer you a job on LBA3?
Any comments on the Prequel?
The source code fragment thing is nice too, although he did this in that past (I think?) it's still good to know we can count on that!

He didn't say (or I forgot)

I asked for that, because it's my dream to work on LBA3, but he said he was not gathering the team yet (because many things must be set up first, finding an investor in the first place). But he said he would like all the community to be involved in creation of the game.

Indeed, it sounds awesome! I have little knowledge about programming and stuff like, but I would be more than happy to help in any way I can, such as translating, helping with wiki, character designs or Alpha/Beta testing

I got the answer from Frederick! He says that some of the things I wanted to post were actually jokes, and they shouldn't make it public to avoid creating confusions. He says he should be able to make the necessary corrections until the end of the week. So a little bit more patience guys .

For a treat, here is the link to Fred's new game/toy he is working on now. He said he would like it to be spread by people rather than official announcements and releases. That's probably the reason he haven't posted it by himself (but he said we were free to do it):

http://www.ludoid.fr/WireFred

It's a weird thing. First he presented it on the conference, then after the conference he tried to explain it to us. Now I have tried playing with it, and only now I can get a general idea, but still not much . And it's an early beta, so not much to do yet.

Wow, that's really bizarre... I'm not sure yet what the goal of the game will be.
Very geeky in any case! It reminds me of Tron, or the visual filesystem thing in Jurassic Park.
Nice use of webgl too! I'm curious to see what the 3D model editor will be used for.
Fred, if you are reading this, I tested it on ubuntu/chrome, and it seems to run pretty well, only a bit slow with some 3D stuff, but it might be my computer which gets a bit old.

I don't really understand WireFred either, but there's a Twinsen model. Cool!

Where did you see a Twinsen model ?

The webgl versions run awfully slowly on my comp, the html5 (middle one) is fine. (on Firefox)

edit : same on Chrome.

This is weird, I can see that you need to program and that I might be able to get around and understand it, but what's the aim ? What is meant by communication tower ?

I think it would be a really good idea for someone who was present to write an informative resume of the events and news that Fred has discussed so that it can go on the frontpage.
After all it's very big and good news that we are getting up close and personal (no homo) with Fred!

So if I'm correct, there are two remakes? The iOS/android (which I assume is a port) and a full LBA1-PC remake? And then naturally sequel remakes, and THEN LBA3? Sounds wonderful, but it sounds like a hard job. If the ports flop, what then? Maybe it's just me, but this seems hard to pull off.

The port and remake are indeed tests, I believe.
