Thought it might be nice to have a film related thread, lots of trailers for next years films have come out recently, some looking pretty cool.

Being a huge fan of Garfield, I hope this turns out ok.
Im a bit neutral to the trailer, this elvis bit made my laugh though.
Odd choice to have garfield CGI yet oddy a real dog.
Also the style of Garfield is weird...not cartoon like or realistic they have made him look more like a stuffed toy
However, I think the choice of Bill Murray for the voice is great

I quite liked the second film, but this is looking better.
a few points:
a) Look carefully at the tripple deckered buss and you can see its a double decker with a bit glued on the top
b) I think the bit with the candel was filmed backwards (who needs high tech special FXs?).

I think the "harry potter theme" should have been left out of the teaser, the muscial cut at the end just seems so unprofessional.

Considering i pretty much hated the cartoon, i have too say i loved the film.
Maybe because it was a parody of the cartoon, rather then mearly a film of it.
It also was blatently written to be appriated by those much older then the obvious age demographic. T
The twist as too who the actual villian was, was brillent too (you never got anything like that in the cartoon ).
The New film has all the cast returning, and is set to more closely parody the cartoon as its directly referanced in the plot.

However, the new trailer IMO dosnt make it look that funny.
(unlike the cool batman-teaser they did for the first film)

This is Pixars next film, possibly the last one they do with Disney.
Your going to have to wait a whole year for this, but i strongly recomend checking the trailer out as its very funny

Dreamworks next one, Shrek 2, is also looking pretty dam good.
Very funny trailer again, allthough i dought if it will be as enjoyable as the first film.
Theres also a completely unexplained factor in the trailer that i hope will be sorted in the film.

Ok, anyone else have comments on these, or previews of films they are looking forward too?

I was going too look at an Alien VS Preditor trailer, but i heard it was made by the guy who did Event Horizon, so i really didnt think it would be worth the download. (Sorry for any fans, but i really hate event horizon )

Some the Garfield movie is being made in the town where I live, Muncie IN.
Jim Davis, the guy who made Garfield, lives here and the Paws studio is near here too. ^_^

I like Garfield a lot although the voice of Bill Murray seems like a bit of a weird choice to me. A tad too active and boisterous maybe? I never really liked the Scooby Doo or Harry Potter films (both inferior to the subject material imo). Shrek was great and although I was surprised at hearing of a sequel, for now I'll trust the creators to do a good job. Alien vs. Preadator does seem interesting, I liked both of the franchises (although Predator 2 and the incessant sweating of Danny Glover was a tad pants). Personally though I'm more interested as far as Alien goes in getting the Quadrology DVD set soon (looks very good indeed).

Bill Murray is great at sarcasm, which IMO, makes him perfect for Garfield

Bushmeister ~ Dude, how on earth can you say the Scooby Doo cartoon is better then the film.EVERY SINGLE one was the EXACT SAME.Withen the first minute you could tell who it was. And the "secondary" charecters had virtualy no personality at all.

The scooby doo film was actualy unpredictable, completely reversed all the cartoons clichés. (while adding a lot more personality too the charecters)
Sorry, if your going to make a comment like that you have to justfy it more.

As for Harry Potter, very true, they arnt as good as the books.
But they are still good films, particularly the second.
You gota remember its very hard converting the books to film, you cant expect perfection. I have high hopes for the 3rd, it has an excelent cast and they are trying to stick very close to the book (check the trailer).

FB2k ~ I garenty you their is more wit and inteligence in the scooby doo movie then there will be in Alien VS Preditor.
I love the orginal films too, but without either of the human stars of ....or fitting into the plot of any of them and being made by the guy that did Event Horrizon ?
Its going to SUCK.

Shrek 2...well as long as they make it good. Sequels to these kind movies aren't usualy very good.

Just wanted to say that i really like the harry potter films.
They do a nice job capturing the atmosphere of the book, and are overall enjoyable.
(The quiddich scenes own big time too ^^)

I'm sorry but just name me one good already released live-action film or version of an animated series. I can't really think of many and it is just my personal preference that real actors (I use this term loosley when looking at 'Scooby Doo') just don't do animated shows justice. Also all those inadequacies, as you view them, were all part of the charm of the original show. There weren't meant to be any deep "secondary characters" and it wasn't really supposed to be a msytery as to who the bad guy was, it was just meant to focus on four American "detectives" running about like cowards and mucking about (until Scrappy Doo came along, who quite frankly annoyed the pants off of me).

I would hardly call the secondary charecters deep in the film, they are still 1D, but before they had no charecter at all

So....presumably you really liked the first 5 minutes of the film then? (when it basicaly cloned a typical cartoon ending)

And again, surely if you hated scrappy doo, that must have made the film all the better?
(I hated him too, which is partly why i loved the film)

but still i loved the original and the sequel looks promising so does harry potter although the acting quallity (the kids mostly) isn't very good.


P.S. I cant wait till The Matrix Online comes out its gonna rule (although its not a film)

No, Adam West RULED, the buget quality was bad, yes, but it had wit and inteligence....unlike the more recent "light hearted" batman films that were just plan bad.
So no, the reason i like the old batman is not because it was bad, it was because it was bad and they did the best they could to make it entertaining.
Much like the early (non-remastered) series's of Red Dwalf.

I could sit and watch Batman:The Movie even today, but i couldnt do the same too the Scooby Doo cartoon. My attention would just wander elsewhere.

They are makeing a movie (there has already been a TV movie, and a radio series, btw).
The movie has been in development for decades though, we can but hope it will arrive someday

An interesting film this, designed completely as a brand new
old fashioned Sci-Fi.
Completely filmed on blue screen using a low-tech but stylish set of CGI, it really has a unique look to it.
