This is a good and controversial question.Since the LBA games are uder copyright it`s then supposed that all connected to the original games is under copyright too.But here comes the dilema is it right if there`s a © sign next to the LBAx logo, since this is unofficial,non-profit sequel game. Our work over the game is actually copyrighted intelectual property (which is ours). Then if there`s a © sign , someone could think that we pretend for the rights of a LBA releated game, which I think is illegal.
So putting a © sig is both- correct and incorrect. If you ask me it will be much better if we leave the things as they are-without © .

Well... if some one came along and went, Hey, Check this out... they could keep it secret for a few days and go "Hey Check Out What I Made!"... PIRACY!!!! but to keep it in order, what you would do is put under the logo "© The LbaX Team 2003 - 2005"

See what I mean?

Well,if the things are like this I think that there wouldn`t be any problems. But even like this you should ask mad_aeon about his opinion.I talked with him several times about such copyright things and his opinion sometimes is different than mine.

You should make a note, that all lba names and characters is Adeline property, while the project and the art involved in it is your's(Teams')

Only the names and facts about LBA are Adeline property. The characters are mine, since I modelled them in other ways, textured them with my own textures and even if there`s something very very close to the original Adeline models at outher look , they`re very individual and unique. So none of my models are other`s property exept mine

Sorry to revive the thread...

Ok, I did some extreme and extensive research.

If you (the team) recreate or edit a pice of work (eg, a photo) you have full ownership with copywrite (eg, this post). It isn't until you pay for the copywrite, that you can legaly take them to court, and sue them for the breach of copywite. (The object that you have must have paid copywrite, and you to must have paid copywirte, to be able to send them to court.)

So, it is legal to have "© LbaX 2003 - 2005, © Mad_aeon 2005"

Now, how good was my research? Bad eh?

It is neither illegally nor reasonably to have (c) on your product when you can't actually protect it with law. It simply means nothing %)) All the Web does it %)) So, the more truly thing will be "Made with care and love by LbaX Team" under the logo %))

Since it will be free distributable project and editable at some levels, the LBAX actually doesn`t need any copyright protections. If we somehow manage to register LBAX,we`ll be actually allowed to sell our product.Furthermore, the engine is modifyied GLScene, which is GNU licensed. We could use the GNU license to protect our rights, without money, without (C) signs and so on.

Yes, you have copyright regardless of if you put the logo there or not.
Anything you do is *automatically* under your copyright.
The logo merely says you reserve copyright.

Fan work included.
If I made, say, a superb picture of the Starship Enterprise, the picture is still under my copyright, even though the ship belongs to another company.
Its like sub-copyright, if you like. I couldnt profit from it, *but neither could paramount*, or a 3rd party.

Ok,ok.We all say the same things, but in a different ways and points of view.
SebZ,if you wish,use © symbols wherever you wish.If someone lays a claim against us,we`ll say that you`re guilty .
