It is not freeware.

Abandonwarez are usually not free, even if the games are not available in shops anymore. It's only freeware if the developer/publisher announces it.

Besides, this site has the rip, which is not including movies, cd audio and speech, which is a VERY big part of the LBA experience. I really don't suggest playing this.

The url you posted is not completely legal. Therefore I deleted it.

abandon games is not a warez site, and they don't post games that are illegal to download... so i think its freeware, or at least its legal to download it from the internet...

No, they put everything on the web and delete it if the publisher asks. That doesn't means it's legal.

Abandon games can be warez.

No, there like underdogs, they put any game up that they dont think is being sold anymore.
At the first complant from the company, they take games down.
(like underdogs).

The site Xakep_INC posted was just linking to the Underdogs, and other sites to download it from.

abandonware are games/programmes which are not beeing sold in shops and are older than 7 years or something , freeware games are games which the author intend to distribute freely or have authorised the distribution of freely. The authors of lba have not decided to distribute this game freely so its not freeware im afraid

It all hinges on the GBA versions, its a win-win or a lose-lose sitution depending on your viewpoint.
ie.
If LBA GBA is going to be made, its unlikely that LBA PC will be freeware.
If it isn't,then its likely they will make it freeware if they beg.
==
So...playing LBA in the bath, or having it free...tough choice

I dont think theres a general time limit, I think the sites make it up as they go along.
Allthough, I do have much respect for Underdogs, they have a very reasonable system there.

copyright lasts for 15 years
so in 2009 it's legal, unless they re-release the game under a diffirent contract

I think its patants that last 70 years.. (I think it was suppose to be apr. the lifetime of the inventor)
--
El- I dont think its that simple, Im pretty sure it varys between countries.
Also, the clock would be ticking from the last release of LBA, which is not nesscerly the same as the first.

well under british law at least, copyright doesn't run out until seventy years after the author's death (after which you're not allowed to copyright it, unless it's hereditary, i think).

sorry my mistake, patents last 15 years... copyrigh lasts 70 years in .nl (and that's 70 from the day it has been first released, but re-releasing it under a diffirent contract will reset this time for the new release (doesnt could for the old release)).

So a book released in 1930 no longer has any copyright protection, but the same book but a new print from 1940 still has copyright.

Copyright was to supose the last a lifetime

Patants also vary, from country to country as well as in specific case's.

Kieron - Copywrites are inheriated altomaticaly by the "next of kin", just like any physical possesion.
But you can also specifier a new copywriter holder in a will.
An interesting examples of the power of copywrites was the recent The TimeMachine, directed by HG Well's great grandson.
Now, I'm not too sure of the guys skill as a director, but the liescene was clearly enough to get him that place.

Well if you live in the USa and you have some money, you don't need to worry about copyrights and patents, exmaple: the Mickey Mouse Copyright Act

I've never downloaded any games (except demos). The only game I ever thought about was the modified NES LoZ, but since its being re-released for GBA, the site is total warez and no warez, right?
