You can delete your own posts but when you started a tread you can't open or close it

Ahh, I see... *threads* not *posts*. Perhaps users should be allowed to lock their own threads... but not delete them.

Treads can be deleted by the starter

But the problem is that when you close it you can also open it...

I think it would be quite a mess if everybody could delete, open/close or move their own threads...

On most forums like these, you can delete a thread just by deleting the first post in it (ie. if you are the thread starter).

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to move your own threads if you can delete them, cos you could always delete it and reopen it somewhere else.

Opening and closing threads is stupid anyway. If a moderator thinks it's a stupid thread why not just delete it?

Maybe moderators could be allowed to see deleted threads.

If a bad thread isn't deleted, if it has nasty stuff written in it the nasty stuff is still on show.

Deleting threads happens very rarely... if something offensive is in a thread, I would edit the post in such a way that the offensive part is gone and then close the thread.

If a thread's deleted, the thread's creator can ask why in the "Dear moderators" forum. That's where it's for: bad actions of moderators.
