Twinsen Little Big Adventure GNU/Linux Distribution

So, here's the point: I'm planning on making a Linux distro, that will be related to LBA games. Still, I'm only planning. I can't promise, that it will be finished, and it will take lot of time, before something will appear, because now I'm making Rastanux, distro for rastafarians.

So, to put it simply - In need your help, guys. First, think about a name for this "baby". Second, this distro is for people. What graphical environment do you want? GNOME, or KDE?

When I will have everything ready to start, I'll post here. Then you will be able to join this project, 'cause it's for everyone and everyone should be able to help in their own way.

Here it starts. I have a request. Make some concept art about logos, defult wallpapers and every stuff, that you wish to see in this OS. Also, post now, if you want to join. Basically, programmers are most needed. Someone to make graphics is also needed. So, if you have questions, ask.

One more thing. I'll try to work on both distros (Rasta and LBA), but now, Rasta is more important, cuz we already have the base and concept art for it.

Now I have to go back to work, but don't worry, I'll try to make LBA Linux finished.

Cya! ^^

GNOME ftw.
KDE's interface has a few more bugs in the latest release...

I prefer gnome over KDE. But I don't like that gnome has 3 menus by default.

GNOME. But what's the point in having such a complex desktop environment in a distro meant for playing LBA? You could take the size down significantly if you used something simpler.

I'm confused about a game based distro altogether to be honest. Unless it was a live-cd/usb had zero config where it reads all the needed data from the original CD/ISO and saved saves to a fat or ntfs partition.

Twinsen's tunic is blue, so KDE 4

But seriously, I think this project is a really bad idea. No one will use it as their regular I think, perhaps give it a try or something.

Before starting working on this project, I think you should consider following:

Even if you make a very hype almost stable OS with normal OS functions and more, first of all, how will it please our LBA needs that other OS's can't. For sure playing the game, having integrated LBA music and wallpapers is easily achieved for any OS. What additionally will this OS bring, and what's the features that forces this to an OS instead of a stand-alone program?

Well, at least consider what I said, even if you don't agree, and if you don't agree, good luck on the project , I'll surely try it out if it ever finishes,

Yeah. I assume he's creating something like a zero config live-cd/usb with both games bundled and some sort of saving system. If he isn't - if it's just a themed, standard Linux distro - it's a pretty bad idea indeed.

I wanted to make a distro, that is related LBA by graphic and that have some futures, like quoting LBA texts or more. Basically, I said: Write, what do you wish to see in this distro, because, in the end, it's for LBA fans. And no, I don't want to make a "zero config live-cd/usb with both games bundled and some sort of saving system". I just wanted to add some LBA taste to linux and to make easier posting about LBA(quoting system, list of all characters etc.) and it's also for users, that want to use linux, but they're totally "green" in penguins and also like LBA games. If you think, that I shouldn't make a LBA related distro, 'cause no one will use it and it's a big waste of time - ok. No problem. I have many ideas for projects for LBA fans, and I think, that everyone will be happy.

Sounds like you just want to make kind of a theme with a few extras.
Surely you don't need to make an entire distro for that?

If the distro was set up to run LBA, and had a theme and such to go with it, it would be nice.
Like, big desktop buttons for the truely LBA mad;

"Play LBA"

"Visit MBN"

And then "other stuff" written in small writting under it

As I asked before, why are the features you want that requires it to be a separate OS, instead of just a program?

Hmm...because I like Linux? Seriously, I was thinking on making it compatible with LBA, or something. Still, I'm only planning and I'm not sure if I can do it.

In the end, I can make a patch, to run LBA games on linux without using Wine instead of making a new distro. What do you prefer, guys? I know, that I'm complicateing everything, but I have many things to do(not only on my pc) and you know, I'm in a little hurry with everything.

I actualy think its easier to use VMWare isnt it?
I admit I havnt tried it with LBA, but with other windows95 stuff it seems to work great.

Piece of piss to install too.
Just install, tell it "Windows 95", select an Iso of Windows, and bingo, it works. (well, after you wait for Windows set up to finnish...which feels weird to watch when its shrunk down another window)

You mean you're gonna make a Linux/Unix/BSD/whatever executable to replace the standard executable so we don't need to use wine?

Well, in that case you can join the Preqengine project, since that is what it will do as well I think.

Argh...Now my mind is like a junkyard...I just wanted to make something cool and related to LBA, because I like it. But now I see it's pointless. I've made a big mess...sorry guys. I should think 3, 4 or even 10 times, before I'll start something. Sorry again. That's me, making many mistakes. I'm already used to it.

Well now you've seen it's pointless, you've proven to yourself that you have at least a bit of sanity left.

You should be proud, seeing after how many of wasted hours people have put on their non finished projects.

People always complain about unfinished LBA-fan projects. But I think every LBA-related project idea is worth mentioning, or trying, if it can keep the LBA spirit alive.

Off course, I still would like to make it. It's in my mind and, when I'll find more things to add to this distro, then MAYBE I'll try to make it.
