Well, it does look kinda like a real-time Myst with a touch of Zelda.
Wait for the reviews.

You're not alone. You've got a sidekick and a few other people in the story.

I've played the German demo, and while I couldn't understand a word, I didn't like the dialogue mechanics. I'll have to wait and see.

It's a polish RPG, based on the creations of a brilliant writer Andrzej Sapkowski, I'm reading his books for the seventh time now. The game is becoming more known, if it's going to be like it looks it's going to be, then I won't be sleeping much for some time .

Woah. The visuals definitely look good!

Although it does appear a bit unoriginal. Once again, lots is borrowed from Lord of the Rings.

You can be sure there are absolutely no similiarities between the books, and the game also has none(apart from that it's fantasy).

Hmm, I watched The Witcher's storyline trailer GameTrailers.com (awesome site btw), and I must say this game looks extremely shallow storywise. I wish, I so so wish, they would make a Fallout styled game with that kind of graphics.

Well CF, if it's going to be anything like the books(and I hope it will - and for now, based on the information from the forum, I'm somewhat certain that it will)
than, you know, it's not going to be shallow. The books are very original in their style, so I hope the game will also be. Hmmm, about Fallout, it would be something nice to have a new fallout game Altugh the old one was, at least for me, a bit too gloomy.

Yes, unfortunately it's not very great. Sure, it's easy to come up with multiple ways around a quest, but they don't flow very well. Two things are at fault here: the dialogue and the voice acting.

There are some really good bits and the atmosphere seems well handeled, but the overall presentation isn't very attractive.

Pity, I was looking forward to it.

Well, for a "grand lover of all" you seem very pesimistic
I think I know what movie you're reffering to, but that's just a peace of the game, for me it wasn't something great also, but the whole production makes me very optimistic, and, I don't think that only this one sneak preview can make me think about this game as a failure. I'm looking forward to it, very much. It's the overall feeling of the game that counts, and I'm waiting for just that, and if the dialogues will be only partly as witty as the ones from the books, than it's going to be fine.

I don't know the book, and I agree with Wing about the dialogs/voice acting thing. And that whole "sleep with a whore" thing is becoming cliche, I'm pretty sure the only reason it's there is for giving some porn to the player.

But if you're so excited about it I guess I'll give it a chance...

I was kinda surprised they put that in there. I guess they really want the game to sell to as many horny teenagers as possible.

"Get [porn] cards to show off to your friends?" WTF doesn't even begin to encompass it.

The best interpretation of whores is done by Planescape: Torment. You do the dialogue, you pay the cash, and... nothing happens. No reward. Just a waste of money. ~_-

I'll play the demo for "The Witcher" when it comes out, but if that proves to contain the same level of storytelling and acting, then I'll look the other way.

Okay, we've gotten a bit off topic here.

This is a Adventure Game Thread. Not an RPG thread :/

Yeah, but I think it's useless to open a new thread for RPG's - that would be just spamming. There's not much new adventure games, and no one post's in this thread lately, so it's reasonable, to post about any new major games, just to keep this thread alive, and don't flood the forum with useless threads.

We haven't really seen much of Stark or Arcadia, but I suppose the transition into full 3D has its sacrifices. It does feel different, but I don't see the problem with that. LBA1 and LBA2 had very different atmospheres as well.

What bothers me the most about the trailer is the animation of the characters. Their movements are very rigid, unrealistic, and so forth. I don't like how Zoe's father just fixes himself into a single position for the whole duration of the scene. I don't think the artists have payed enough attention to character animation.

Hmmm just a warning about BG&E - it doesn't work on many modern PCs plus there are no patches. For instance on mine the sound and video are around 2 secs out of sync. Plus the water won't render properly on my Geforce 6600GT but would be fine on my old GF2MX. VERY buggy game indeed

Monkie: I had the same problem with BG&E, it was like, SO out of synch. Disable FSAA (or "anti aliasing"), it will make ir much better (and feel free to set all other visual effects to max). If it's still out of synch lower the screen resolution again and again until the problrm is gone. With my GeForce FX 520 I have to set modern games to 800x600 for them to be in synch (modern means BG&E and Psychonauts).
Usually it's the FSAA that does all the trouble though.

Tried to play "80 days", didn't even went past the first loading screen.
When the comapny logo was about to show i could only hear the sound...
The loading took ages, and when it finally loaded (after lowering the details to a total minimum with 640x480 res ) everything was totally white, without any textures. It's dumb, I know I have only 256 ram (Kingston,DDR2), but the processor is a 2800+ sempron, and my GeForce 4 Titanium is not that bad either I can play almost all new games with resonable settings (of course it doesent support a lot of new things). There's something wrong with this game, I tried to patch it, but it didn't worked... All my drivers are up to date, there's nothing messed up with my gear() or my system either. I've read all the FAQ's and troubleshooting guides and all, and there were no problems like those of mine in there. I can't see anything on those screenshots that would require huge amounts of memory like that. I'm a bit mad with this game.

Oh, and after aplying the patch (some time ago) to BG&E I play it with antialiasing at full settings, and in 1020x768 with vertical synchronisation ON (it drains a lot of memory for me, always), I've got no problems with it whatsoever.

I've tried all the combos of setting and now the patch as well but to no avail. Playing at 1200x1024 with full AA etc the sound is still crap and the water looks like its being rendered by a 486
