But I've heard it was quite a hit in certain markets.

It looks good, but what bothers me (and hopefully this is because the game's in early development) is while the environment is given good amount of work, the characters aren't presented with the same quality.

I mean, take the main character of this Destinies game, for example. He's got this blank expression on his face as he walks from point A to point B. How many people actually do that? People always look at something when they pass things by, not stare streight forward as if they're automotans. I can see how such character animation was fine 10 years ago, but we're quite beyond that now.

Developers need to take a look at the characters in ICO (which in my opinion is the Muppets of Video Games in terms of brining the characters to life).

Ankh Demo: Really atmospheric/beautiful visuals. Good script and old-style puzzles. BAD voice-acting and particularly horrendous on the main character's part.

Keepsake Demo: Great atmosphere and beautiful graphics! An average script with pretty bad voice acting. There are some pretty neat puzzles and the controls are much easier to work with than in Ankh.

Frell me DEAD!

Dreamfall has gone GOLD.

"The word is finally out: we’ve gone gold on the Xbox.

(No, that doesn’t mean we’ve sold 100,000 copies or had some dental work done. It means that Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is completely done, approved by Microsoft, and ready for manufacturing.)

So what’s happening with the PC version? That’s done, too, and it’ll be out simultaneously with the Xbox version, on April 17th, so no worries. Keep in mind that these are U.S. North American dates, and don’t necessarily apply to Europe, where most territories will have a localised version. Europe’s a complex market, and requires a bit more work."

What bothers me the most about the trailer is the animation of the characters. Their movements are very rigid, unrealistic, and so forth. I don't like how Zoe's father just fixes himself into a single position for the whole duration of the scene. I don't think the artists have payed enough attention to character animation.

i'm not that bothered about the graphics - i'm more concerned about the changes they've made to the gameplay, which sound like they could be quite fundamental... i can't help wondering whether they've just done it because their blood-sucking publishers have told them to (like when monkey island 4 went 3d...).

i can definitely envisage myself enjoying the april ryan game more than the kian game, anyway.

I remember Ragnar being quite excited about the new style of gameplay they came up for Dreamfall.

I have no doubt that Funcom executives wanted to change the gameplay/graphics for the sequal, but really, I can't imagine that Ragnar himself would have wanted to create another "old styled" adventure game.

Does anyone know what the system requirements for Dreamfall are going to be? I'm afraid my computer is too weak for it...

There seems to be conflicting "requirement specs" posted around various sites. I'm waiting for some sort of confirmation from somebody in the Dev department.

Meanwhile, here's a picture of the Norwegian Limited Edition version:

Might be hacks to make it support untested stuff.

After all, the standard of NVidia cards of that gen is fixed as regards to them all fully supporting DirectX9c.

The only thing setting them apart is really proforamce issues (and ram).
It may be possible to play it on lower cards;
only badly.

yes, i think you're right.

will the limited edition be available in english? it's much prettier than the normal packaging! (though norwegian is just a pretty language ^_^ i wish english had æ's and ø's and y's heh)

hnnnnggghhh i think i fit all the requirements but i ave to check which one my video card is... it's a geforce 'go' fifty-something-hundred... sometimes the drivers are different for the go cards

actually is that really the total list of all cards it works with? cos above that it says "100% dx9.0c compatible" - my card is definitely that - surely if it uses dx then any dx-compatible card will work?

Yeah, thats what I am thinking, if its got the Ram, and all the functions, it should work. (even if framerate is bad ect)
However, they could have easily written a check code to make it not install or such if you dont have the right set up
(ie, they didnt want there game to be reported as having a bad framerate for some people, so they would rather force it not to work at all).

The GREAT COW RACE is out!

"Pros: Gorgeous backgrounds, a great story, and engaging puzzles make this a game you don't want to miss."

"Cons: Long load times, still no option to skip cutscenes, and some minor graphical issues keep this just short of the classic it could be."

"Bottom-line: An excellent step forward from Telltale, and a game that everyone should be playing."

I didn't like Still Life. Parhaps I didn't give it much chance though, I'm not sure I even got past the second scene, but I didn't like the atmosphere.

Hmm, so was Dreamfall released today?!
